activerain challenges: Summer Gardening in Florida - 08/06/17 04:08 PM
Summer Gardening in Florida
People who move to Florida from northern parts of the country find that they have to adjust to the different growing conditions when they are thinking about planting flowers or a vegetable garden.
Typically late winter/early Spring and Fall are the best times to plant most vegetables because of the cooler temperatures. Summer heat poses a real challenge to growing things and Florida gardeners are often just happy when they can keep their plants alive during the hottest summer months.
That is definitely true for the few plants I have currently growing. There is a hot pepper plant that was … (19 comments)

activerain challenges: Thankful for all my Blessings - 11/24/16 06:48 AM
Thankful for all my Blessings

It's here! It's Thanksgiving Day and time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for all my blessings.

Whether large or small, every day is a gift filled with beautiful things - we just have to look at them with open eyes, minds, and hearts.

We forget sometimes in our every day lives to really appreciate what we have.

It might help to start writing down at the end of each day one or two things that were good about that day - even if it's "just" the weather or a good meal.

activerain challenges: How I Got to Where I am Today in Real Estate - 06/28/14 08:50 AM
How I Got to Where I am Today in Real Estate
Getting into real estate was not necessarily something that I consciously thought about.  We moved to our current location in 2004 because my mother-in-law's health was rapidly declining and we wanted to be closer to be able to take care of her.  Jobs in our area were not that plentiful especially not for people who didn't want to work in the medical field so one day, I saw a sign that read "sign up to get your real estate license". So I thought to myself, if I don't have a … (15 comments)

Functional Design Features in New Home Construction

There is no doubt, looking at new home construction and especially model homes is always a delight with so many nice features that are put into these homes.   There are probably as many "most important" aspects and features as there are buyers so coming down to just one is not an easy task and I had to think about it for a while.
Just having returned from a trip to Europe that included looking at real estate and new condo construction projects, I was able to gain a new perspective and ideas and it … (8 comments)

activerain challenges: Different Flyers for Different Purposes - 04/23/11 10:50 AM
Different Flyers for Different Purposes
The use of flyers as part of real estate marketing can come in a variety of forms and can serve different purposes.
There are the hard copy flyers that can range from basic information to mini brochures and then there are the electronic flyers.
Depending on the property, I like to use outside flyers and inside flyers - each different.
The Outside Flyer:  a flyer box attached to the sign post serves well to get the word out about a property especially in the beginning of the marketing because all too often, the neighbors do want to know but don't want … (6 comments)

activerain challenges: Color Makes a Good Sign! - 04/23/11 09:47 AM
Color Makes a Good Sign!
What makes a good sign?  Well, it should be seen so visibility is one key to a good sign.
My Tropic Shores Realty sign stands out from many other real estate signs because of its bright yellow color as well as its larger size.  These yellow signs scream "Attention" and can't be missed!  I currently have one listing in particular, where the sign can be seen from both directions and from a long distance away shining bright and yellow, preparing the driver some time in advance to take a look at the sign.
Another key to a good … (10 comments)
