Las Vegas has become more than just a vacation destination for Hawaiians, many have adopted it as home. The diversity of the Pacific Islanders is a perfect fit for the Melting Pot of the Vegas Valley. Being the largest and fastest growing city of the last century, the swelling population combines a blend of both domestic regional, and international cultures. The Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club has been very active and growing since 1989. Nine month old Snickers, has had a busy life so far. He is a Cocker Spaniel, who was shipwrecked with his family on a tiny island in the Pacific, about 1000 miles south of Hawaii.
Jack Joslin, a Las Vegas resident, read the story and decided he had to help save Snickers. Joslin negotiated with the Kiribati government and got help from Norwegian Cruise Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and the Hawaiian Humane Society so that he could bring Snickers home to live with him.
