A very busy day today, with my first showings in MacDonald Highlands, the prestigious guard gated community in Henderson, at the southern end of the Las Vegas Valley. The Master Planned Community is nestled in the foothills of the McCullough Range, often referred to as the Black Mountains, as they were formed by long dormant ancient volcanoes. It's next to the active adult community of Sun City MacDonald Ranch, and the nearby Green Valley Ranch. When you think of 'Play' and the Las Vegas Valley, many will only think of casinos. Well there is more to life beyond the Strip, and Henderson offers an incredible amount of recreation for residents. That's why it's no surprise it was one of 67 that made the 2008 list of Playful City USA, from the many that applied. This is a project of KaBoom, that wants to create great places for children to play within walking distance from their homes, across the entire USA.

The Las Vegas Valley with it's dry climate and plentiful sunshine is a haven and heaven for car collectors. It's not unusual to see classics and customs all over town, and some celebrity owned or once were. I found this out the first month we moved here. Wayne Newton pulled up next to us by our home, in one of his classic Bentleys. Later a Stutz with lighted chandeliers and candelabras at McDonald Highlands, and of course it used to be owned by Liberace. Whitney Ranch is one of the well established Master Planned Communities in the Las Vegas Valley. Located on the northeast side of Henderson at the base of Whitney Mesa, it offers a lot of convenience. It's very close to the largest commercial corridor in the state, with an abundance of shopping, restaurants, and services moments away.
