las vegas construction: Symphony Park Las Vegas, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo, Smith Center, Pave the Way - Photo Tour - 09/15/10 09:25 AM

Located in the heart of downtown, you could say that Symphony Park is setting the tone for the future of Las Vegas, NV. It has become the center for orchestrating the diversification of the local economy, a new base for arts and culture, and a showcase for conservation and green building in a state already poised to become a leader in renewable energy, at the newly titled Nevada National Security Site that may also have additional future uses for energy, technology experimentation and jobs.
This project was originally named Union Park, after the former Union Pacific rail yards that … (2 comments)

Last fall I mentioned the construction of the above $1 billion M Resort and the Lightship it leased to prepare for it's opening. This past week owner Anthony Marnell III received final approvals from Nevada Gaming, and currently slated the opening for March 1, 2009. The approximately 390 room property will offer a Salon and Spa, nine restaurants, luxurious pool and Piazza concert area in addition to the casino.
They are still hard at work on the property, and it's beginning to resemble a finished product. The landscaping and signs are going in as the structure gets it's … (2 comments)

las vegas construction: Silverton Casino - Bass Pro Shops - Aquarium - More New Construction - Picture Tour - 12/11/08 07:22 PM
Silverton Casino construction hasn't grabbed the headlines like the new and mega-resort properties around Las Vegas. Yet it's latest expansion and parking garage coming in at $130 million isn't exactly pocket change. This is the latest in several construction projects that have been happening there over the last few years, and there are plans in the works for more to come in the future.
Silverton is roughly 3½ miles south of Mandalay Bay, but on the opposite side of I-15, at Blue Diamond Rd. and Dean Martin Dr. It started out in 1994 as Boomtown, and after only 3 years it was … (6 comments)

las vegas construction: City Center Las Vegas - Financing for MGM Mirage - Dubai World - 08/29/08 01:35 PM
About a month ago the media was having a feeding frenzy. MGM Mirage and Dubai World missed a self imposed deadline to secure the final $3 billion in funding for the $9.2 billion ($11.2 billion including the land) City Center. At the time, they had only been able to secure $1.6 billion of the remaining amount for the largest private commercial development in the US history. Some reports went as far as to say the project opening next year was 'in trouble'. The response from the partners was....no, it's that global credit markets are tough these days and negotiations for good … (2 comments)

las vegas construction: Durango Station Las Vegas - More Construction Coming to the Southwest? - 08/27/08 05:08 PM
Durango Station Casino has been on the books for a while, and has faced the added delay from Station Casinos going private. The Fertitta brothers and Las Vegas Hilton owner Colony Capital completed the deal last November. Since then they've proceeded with the already under construction Aliante Station in North Las Vegas, but there's another project they've also been working on...getting Durango Station back on line and it's been pushed up to the front of the pack.

They've been having meetings with neighbors since near the beginning of this year, and recently announced they had plans in the works … (5 comments)

I did a recent blog and slideshow on the amazing new color changing Eastside Cannery set to open later this month. It's on the Boulder Strip corridor, and it's not the only new construction in that area. Thanks to Eric Rosenberg with Boulder Crossroads for furnishing this information that shows even more of the investment going on in the Las Vegas Valley.

Eastside Cannery is coming soon and is responsible for 800 jobs here in the valley. It's set to open Aug. 28, 2008, but it's already adding some excitement to the Las Vegas skyline. During the day the $250 million complex's 16 story sawtooth topped tower is clad in bronze and white with glass and steel. At night the building colors up the Boulder Strip as it morphs from every shade of the rainbow.

las vegas construction: Las Vegas Strip View - 05/14/08 10:38 AM
In my blog from yesterday, on Sinatra's Stamp ceremony at Bellagio Fountains, I talked about Frank's love of "5 O'Clock Vegas Blue"... referencing the colors of the skies here. I also mentioned that he was one of the main characters for making Las Vegas what it is today, and influencing it's growth.
If you can get past the 'Old Blue Eyes' and then the beautiful Dancing Fountains of Bellagio, in some of the pictures you may have noticed that Frank's influence to the growth of Las Vegas still goes on today. In the backdrop of those amazing blue Vegas skies you'll … (28 comments)
