The City Of Alexandria To Charge Airbnb Tax Effective April 1, 2018 the City Of Alexandria will start collecting taxes on Airbnb listings. The city will charge a 6.5% local tax, 2% state tax, and a $1 per night for bookings that are 29 nights or less.
The agreement Alexandria has with Airbnb is a first for Virginia. It comes not long after the city started mandatory registration for anyone doing short-term rentals. DC and Montgomery County Maryland have also made agreements with Airbnb.
