greenprints alliance: Trails Open and More Coming - Greenprints Alliance Update - 07/16/10 05:28 AM
Work continues on the bike trail for Woodstock, GA. with Greenprints Alliance and SORBA Woodstock adding to more trails through volunteers' efforts.  The Taylor Randahl Memorial trail now has 2.6 miles of trails.  This Saturday, July 17th,  there will be another trail building party starting at 8am until  Noon. 
The Taylor Randahl Memorial trails are at the Olde Rope Mill Park off Ridgewalk Parkway just North of downtown Woodstock.  When completed there will be 6.5 miles of riding trails. 
Additionally, the design process has started for 7+ miles of multi-use trails in and around Woodstock, GA.  This is being done by the City of Woodstock and Cherokee … (0 comments)

greenprints alliance: Streetfest in Woodstock GA a success for Greenprints Alliance - 03/23/10 08:26 AM
Got a chance to drop by the Streetfest benefit for the Greensprints Alliance in downtown Woodstock GA - what a gorgeous day for an outdoor event with music and arts and crafts!  As advertised, East Main Street was closed off to provide space for the street vendors and a stage was set up for ongoing band perfermances.  There was also a rock wall for kids near Canyon Burgers.  The view from the rooftop deck at Pure taqueria was spectacular and the green beer was flowing in a post- St Patty's Day tribute.

greenprints alliance: St Patrick's Day Streetfest - Sat, March 20 - Downtown Woodstock GA - 03/10/10 11:19 PM
Woodstock's Greenprint Alliance, along with local businesses Pure Taqueria and Canyon's Burger Company, among others, will be hosting a St. Patrick's Day Streetfest on Saturday, March 20 in Downtown Woodstock, GA.  Activities will start around noon and continue into the evening.  Local restaurants will be serving food and beverages with a portion of the proceeds going to the Greensprint Alliance.  There will be a beer garden with green beer at The Right Wing Tavern.

It looks like a recently neglected property that was a victim of the economic downturn in Woodstock GA now has a chance to become a major attraction and asset for the city.  The Woodstock City Council has approved a memorandum of understanding to turn a foreclosed property on Elm Street just west of downtown into a cultural arts complex.
The proposed Elm Street Cultural Arts Village would include a visual arts center for galleries and exhibits, a "black box" theater for acting and intimate performances plus four acres of undeveloped greenspace for recreation and outdoorevents.  The greenspace would connect to a … (0 comments)

greenprints alliance: Woodstock GA Park and Trail Program Approved - Greenprints Alliance - 01/04/10 11:26 PM
Woodstock has taken another great step forward in assuring a better quality of life for its residents- with a huge assist from the Cherokee County Commissioners.  According to the AJC, the Commisssioners recently approved an agreement with the city of Woodstock to fund up to $5 million for the "Greenprints" program.
 
In June 2008, the Greenprints Alliance presented a parks and trails plan that Woodstock adopted and approved. Greenprints Alliance is a non-profit group formed to develop a city-wide parks and trail plan for Woodstock that would tie into a Cherokee County-wide trail system.  The proposed system would also eventually … (4 comments)
