Woodstock continues its progress towards City Park expansion to include the new Woodstock Amphitheater. According to the Cherokee Tribune, the Woodstock City Council got a first glimpse at the projected $2.2 million project. It looks like a recently neglected property that was a victim of the economic downturn in Woodstock GA now has a chance to become a major attraction and asset for the city. The Woodstock City Council has approved a memorandum of understanding to turn a foreclosed property on Elm Street just west of downtown into a cultural arts complex. The proposed Elm Street Cultural Arts Village would include a visual arts center for galleries and exhibits, a "black box" theater for acting and intimate performances plus four acres of undeveloped greenspace for recreation and outdoorevents. woodstock parks: Woodstock GA Park and Trail Program Approved - Greenprints Alliance

Woodstock has taken another great step forward in assuring a better quality of life for its residents- with a huge assist from the Cherokee County Commissioners. According to the AJC, the Commisssioners recently approved an agreement with the city of Woodstock to fund up to $5 million for the "Greenprints" program.
In June 2008, the Greenprints Alliance presented a parks and trails plan that Woodstock adopted and approved. Greenprints Alliance is a non-profit group formed to develop a city-wide parks and trail plan for Woodstock that would tie into a Cherokee County-wide trail system.
