selectann: Is there a website for finding a good, honest, dependable auto mechanic? - 11/12/08 01:36 PM
Does a website exist for finding a good, honest, ethical, dependable auto mechanic?  Does such a being exist?  So far in my "world", this does not.  I have been having car issues for nearly 2 years now.  I have replaced many items on the vehicle at a whopping $1200 a piece but still the problem exists.  The last tune-up done on the car was well over $2000 and the dealership almost managed to ruin my transmission.  It cost me an additional 7 quarts of transmission fluid for them to repair the problem they created by the scheduled maintenance.  Needless to say, I am not going … (10 comments)

selectann: Honor Flight, a program to show our Veterans we care - 11/11/08 11:14 AM
I learned about the Franklin County Honor Flight program about 2 months ago.  This program sponsors flights to take veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their national memorial....FREE OF CHARGE!!
After meeting Dave Hall at the "Victory Through Valor" book signing, I knew I had to post about this special program.  They recognize American veterans' achievements and sacrifices by taking them on an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to see the memorial.  The highest priority is given to veterans who are terminally ill from any war or veterans who are survivors of World War II .
Unfortunately, our WW II Veterans are passing away at … (10 comments)

selectann: One Lucky Mutt featuring self-serve dog washes in Wildwood, Missouri - 11/08/08 09:04 AM
Yesterday, I happened upon a great secret in Wildwood, Missouri:  One Lucky Mutt.  This is a healthy pet food market and self-serve dog wash.  The store carries many great items including leashes, collars, pet spa items, shampoos, conditioners, beds, toys and bowls to name a few.  They have everything to help your pet feel like a true star.
What really caught my eye was the self-serve dog wash.  As I spoke to Tracy, the owner, she told me about her unique service.  It is only $15 and they provide everything except the pooch.  The cost includes a choice of their 7 available … (20 comments)

Fall is here and the temperatures are going to decrease.  Here are the last photos of the season for gorgeous flowers.  I spent the day trying to find something to take pictures of to post about and this is what I decided to write about.
These mum are absolutely the best.  They not only look great, they smell great.  Tomorrow I may have to cut them to bring in before the temperatures fall.
Enjoy!

selectann: Does anyone else think there are too many insects flying around? - 11/02/08 01:50 PM
It is November here in the Midwest.  And I love Fall but those pesky bugs are everywhere.  Does anyone else think there are too many bugs flying around?  I have been picking the little critters out of my hair and off of my clothes for the last two weeks.
The ladybugs seem to be everywhere.  Now they are invading my home and they are messy little creatures.
Darn I mention the wasps are flying in record numbers also?  Luckily, I have not had any of those in my hair.  If I had, you would have been able to hear me scream across the … (26 comments)

selectann: Be sure to Fall Back - 11/01/08 01:15 PM
Yes, friends it is that time of year again...  Time to reclaim the hour of sleep we lost earlier this year.
Before heading off to bed, be sure to set all of the clocks in your house back one hour.  This will be the only day this year you are allowed to be early to all events of the day for not taking this post seriously...
Have a great night's sleep!
And by the way, you should also test your smoke detector to insure it is working properly.  If not then Remember to get some new batteries too.

selectann: Halloween does not have to be scary - 10/30/08 02:03 PM
As Halloween approaches, it is good to note, it does not need to be scary.  At our Kid's Safety Day in Wildwood, our scarecrow was friendly and happy to help those needing pumpkins.  The whole day was gorgeous and well attended.
Next year we hope to have even more fun and more children in attendance.
So looks out next October.  The Prudential Select office in Wildwood Missouri will again have Kid's Safety Day.

selectann: Are you staying awake at night worrying about your money? - 10/28/08 03:21 PM
Does worrying about the safety of your money keep you up at night?  Are you concerned your bank or credit union might be next on the list to close?  If these items concern you, then you should sign on and check out your financial institution at:  http://www.bankrate.com/brm/safesound/ss_home.asp.

selectann: Low Low Gas Prices in Union Missouri - 10/27/08 03:15 PM
Gas prices in Union, Missouri today were $2.33 a gallon for regular.  Wildwood was still at $2.43 a gallon but hopefully the prices will be falling in Wildwood and other areas surrounding St. Louis.
I know this is good news for me.  It was getting to be crazy to fill up my Impala.  The bill from an empty tank would be over $50 and nearly $60.  Now when I fill up the total is staying at about $35.  For my family and others in the area this means more money to spend on food.
It was getting to the point where I felt like … (21 comments)

selectann: Oktoberfest in Hermann, Missouri - 10/22/08 02:51 PM
2008 Oktoberfest:
Weekends in October in Hermann, Missouri
The wonderfully friendly people of gorgeous Hermann, Missouri celebrate their German heritage all year long, but every weekend in October they celebrate with a special gusto.  On average, thousands of visitors travel to this small town to listen to pollka music, taste the traditional foods and sample local wines.
Oktoberfest events are held throughout the town, however, most people head to two largest wineries,  Hermannhof and Stone Hill. Stone Hill, an award winning winery, sits on a hilltop overlooking Hermann.  It is the best place to have some wine and enjoy the beautiful fall colors. The Hermannhof Winery is a bit "wilder" so take a trip there … (10 comments)
