An Oriole Enjoying the Cool Water of a Cactus Fountain in the Cottages At Coffeepot As I was watching this oriole take pleasure in a brief interlude of splashing around in the cool invigorating water of the fountain, I couldn't help but think there was no fear of me, just a few feet away. I couldn't help but think of fun, no fear, and loving life. Having a cup of coffee early on a sunny morning when the temps are in the 60ºs and I am sitting in the courtyard enjoying nature, I ask myself, what could be better? ~ ~ ~ There's (34 comments)
birds: Happy Sedona Spring 2019!
- 03/20/19 06:40 PM
Happy Sedona Spring! It's Here! Finally, spring has sprung! At least in a big part of the country. Last year, 26 days were above 60º. Eleven days were above 70º and one day made it to 81º. This was actually much cooler than March of 2017. There were 17 days above 70º in 2017. But Mother Nature does not wait around. If Mother Nature has not given you the opportunity to thaw out yet, well, I hope it comes soon for you. It is nice to see all the flowers starting to bloom and the fruitless plums with their blossoms all along the SR89A which is Sedona's main (38 comments)

Soldiers Pass - Sedona Arizona Bird Watching Ash-throated Flycatcher Well spring is here. The weather is wonderful. We are at 75º as I write this at 1 PM. It will probably get just a little warmer. I thought I would enjoy the outside backyard sipping a tea with my husband's Canon 5D Mark IV camera for just a few minutes. I often bring my Audubon book "Field Guide to the Southwestern States" to help me with birds I may not know. It is a great way to soak up the warm weather and decompress especially before planning and preparing the big Easter dinner on Sunday. As the Blue (20 comments)

Venice Italy St Mark's Square Real Life People - Contest Entry We were in St. Marks Square in Venice during some refurbishing of the buildings. Venice is a must see. Along with Paris, it is one of the most romantic cities I have ever visited. At the time, I don't think I had ever seen more Pigeons any where. The square was full. Then I saw this picture developing. This picture was the original shot. I could see that the young lady saw that I was getting ready to snap a picture and smiled to let me know it was going to be a good (16 comments)

birds: What's A City Girl Like Me Doing In A Place Like This?
- 07/19/13 09:26 AM
What's a City Girl Like Me Doing in a Place Like This? I grew up and spent my whole life in suburbs surrounding big cities or metropolitan areas. I never thought I could live in a small community such as Sedona. But here I am! My biggest concern was, where in the heck were the shopping malls? Even more importantly, there were no NORDSTROM's. The nearest Nordstroms was two hours away. YIKES! Once I started to realize that life goes on (barely) without Nordstroms, I started to enjoy the peace and quiet of my natural surroundings. Little did I know that there (14 comments)
