Happy Mother's Day! from The Red Rocks of Sedona If I am not working on a Sedona real estate deal, I like to spend my free time out in the garden. When I go to the nursery, I find flowers and plants that bloom at different times of the year so that you can smell the fragrance and enjoy the color for as many months as possible. The lilacs are fading fast but the Jasmine plants are starting to bloom! Here is a variety of flowers and plants from my garden on Mother's Day. Yellow Iris Another Sedona Spring Delight I wanted to capture these before they withered. After viewing the shot, I noticed that the light of the sun added a translucent effect to many of the leaves. I also noticed that they are growing taller and spreading out over a larger area every year. I looked it up and found that the Yellow Iris spreads both by seed and by stout underground stems called rhizomes from which its roots can grow to a foot in length. ~~~~~~~~~~

When I lived in Southern California I couldn't get lilacs to grow. You need a good freeze for the plant to bloom. When you cut them back, it may take another 2 to 3 years for them to bloom. So it is a real treat to see the gift these lilacs have provided. The aroma is just wonderful. Eventually, we will be able to make a video with that feature built in.
