Sedona Marathon Expects 2,500 Participants - Race Day - Jan 31st !
The Sedona Marathon one of Sedona's premier winter events is in competition with the Superbowl crowds this year. According to the Sedona Red Rock News, last year 2,611 people crossed the finish lines. But this year the Superbowl which will be held the very next day in Glendale Arizona may just siphon off some of those folks who want to take part in the events leading up to the Superbowl. 2,500 runners are estimated to compete.

Whole Foods is in the process of buying 4 or the 5 New Frontiers stores. Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott and San Luis Obispo will be acquired by Whole Foods. New Frontiers Natural Marketplace is headquarted in Solvang CA. That Solvang store and the organic farm it operates nearby will continue to be operated by New Frontiers.

Congrats to Sedona! We are ranked 8th on Smithsonian.com for "Best Small Town to Visit..."! Sedona is just one of many great small towns listed. If you want to see America, I recommend visiting some of these small towns and mingling with the locals. I have been to Healdsburg California. The charm these small towns emit is amazing and you might even see a famous football quarterback doing some shopping. I saw Joe Montana and his family in a store in Healdsburg!

Anyone who makes the trek to Sedona will probably go to Jerome, built on the side of Cleopatra Hill, to check out the old hippy town of the 1970's. It is very special art community with a colorful past and loads of history. You can just look down any street and marvel at the design of the buildings; especially the buildings on stilts! I can only wonder what this town was like in the heyday of the copper mining boom.

What's a City Girl Like Me Doing in a Place Like This? I grew up and spent my whole life in suburbs surrounding big cities or metropolitan areas. I never thought I could live in a small community such as Sedona. But here I am!
My biggest concern was, where in the heck were the shopping malls? Even more importantly, there were no NORDSTROM's. The nearest Nordstroms was two hours away. YIKES!
