tourism: Sedona Traffic Congestion - A New Era of "Sustainable Tourism" - 06/29/18 07:14 AM
Sedona Traffic Congestion
A New Era of Sustainable TourismThe Delicate BalanceSedona is an economy sustained by tourism. The hospitality industry is considered the largest contributor to the Sedona economy. It is a major source of income not only to Sedona but the the entire Verde Valley.  With 3 million to 5 million visitors a year visiting Sedona, and a local population of 10,255 (estimated), there needs to be a delicate balance.  Visitors and locals need to co-exist.

Javelinas On Parade ~ Sedona Arizona
Inside the Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is their restaurant "Reds". I like to go their with clients and my husband because it is quite and you can conduct business easily.  Besides, the food and service is good!  Right in the hotel foyer, you can find the art work in the featured image above.
Back in 2005, Sedona decided to answer a call to Chicago's "Cows on Parade" which was established in 1999. In Chicago, you would see cows painted in different artistic ways.
Here in Sedona, highway construction was about to begin so the Chamber of Commerce and … (17 comments)

There are so many fabulous shots of this resort.  It was bought out by the Hilton Chain. Currently it is being renovated and will open late March of 2017 as a Conrad Hotel.
It is not an easy trip for the faint of heart. There is an international flight from Los Angeles to the main island and then you take a puddle jumper to Bora Bora.  From the airport, you take a water taxi to your resort!  I recommend staying overnight on Papeete before getting on the puddle jumper.  Remember, you have a weight … (13 comments)

tourism: 12th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival - Oct 15th thru 22nd, 2016 - 10/13/16 02:56 AM
What Is Plein Air Painting?
It is pretty simple actually.  Grab an easel and a canvas, some paint brushes, go outdoors,  paint and capture your favorite outdoor scene on that canvas.  This is Plein Air Painting.
Annual Event
The Sedona Arts Center hosts this event every year around this time.  Artists come from all over to participate.  Their canvas can be Oak Creek, one of the many Red Rock Features or golf courses. Some choose water features or special areas such a Rachel's Knoll.
Week Long Festival
The festival starts on a Saturday and ends on a Saturday.  There are guest artists such as Jove … (17 comments)

Most Beautiful Place In America!
Five years ago this month, Sedona was named by ABC's Good Morning America as 'GMA' -"Most Beautuful Place in America".  ....and Why Not? I have been an "Ambassador" for this city since 2001, when my husband and I fell in love with the area, the people, the stars, the weather and of course, the crimson red rocks.
In fact I finally changed my real estate website name to "". Because of the special love and attachment I have for Sedona, I am constantly touting everything from the weather, to the majestic … (19 comments)

Monsoon Season 2007
Part 1

It was off season for this part of the world. There were just a few Japanese honeymooners and some folks from New Zealand and us!

This is a a bucket list destination that is well worth the memories it creates. There are many more resorts on this island now. But staying in a over-the-water bungeloo is enchanting.   Prices are out of this world though.  Back then a hamburger was $28. An over-the-water hut during off-season was $975 to $1200 a night!  Remember, off-season for them is winter for us! These storms don't linger but they are frequent. … (9 comments)

Kauai - If you are trying to find "Old Hawaii", this might be the island you choose to visit.  It is the oldest island in the chain and the furthest west and gets the most rain.  But it sure is pretty. Hopefully these pictures will show just some of the scenery and majesty of what the Hawaiian Islands hold.  There is a certain mystic about these islands and Kauai reminds me the most of Sedona Arizona. When I first laid my eyes on "The Little Grand Canyon" I was in awe of how much it looked like majestic scenery … (6 comments)

Why I am researching this?...
I saw a commercial for a wireless security system and thought about the "peace of mind" that each company advertises if you use their product or service.  I have lived in areas where security was a concerned and "peace of mind" was something I was willing to pay for.
Ever since I came to Sedona, this has not been one of my concerns.  However, I do keep my eyes open for animals after dark!
So curiosity got to me...
I have often heard of how safe our city is. Many people leave their … (0 comments)
