According to a recent article from RealFacts,” Average rents in the East Bay, Peninsula and San Francisco were nearly unchanged in the fourth quarter of last year and declined slightly in the South Bay, according to RealFacts, a Novato consulting group that tracks rents in apartment complexes with 50 or more units. That compares with the first half of the year, when some areas saw quarterly increases of 4 percent.”

Housingwire.com reported today, “A yearlong Department of Justice and FBI initiative to protect distressed borrowers from foreclosure rescue scams resulted in charges against 530 accused con artists and the uncovering of $1 billion in losses.”
The investigation uncovered 73,000 victims of foreclosure and mortgage-“rescue” fraud. Many of the victims handed over money to the con artists thinking they were modifying their mortgages, while others were lead to believe investors would acquire their properties. They lost the titles to their homes to these scammers.
