The New FSBO - For Cleveland and Other Snowy Cities!
Find
Shovelers
Before
October
Unfortunately, I don't have a snowblower. I don't really mind, because I can use the exercise! So today I spent 90+ minutes shoveling 6" deep snow from my driveway.
I live on a very busy street, and hundreds of cars and trucks zip by my house all day long. There must have been at least half a dozen pick-up trucks with snowplows attached  pass me as I worked my butt off cleaned my drive. One passenger even made eye contact with me, at 35mph.
And did anyone stop and offer me their … (5 comments)

cleveland: North Olmsted, OH Real Estate Housing Market Activity ~ September 2009 - 10/02/09 08:49 AM
A little update...Ellie is still with us. The little furrball has wormed her way into my heart, and I could never part with her. Apparently, nor could Tigger:

Without further ado, here is the housing market update for North Olmsted, OH for the month of September 2009:

I'm very pleased with the activity in my hometown, as well as the other Cleveland, OH suburbs Our office is buzzing, and it's so much fun to watch after the past couple of "challenging" years.
Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you next month. Happy Halloween everyone!!!

cleveland: A Case of Mistaken Identity ~ But It's All Good!! - 03/24/09 12:38 AM
Yesterday, I received the most interesting phone call.
"Do you remember when you gave my friend and me your card at the restaurant last week? When you were waiting on us?"
*Blink*
For the record, I'm not a waitress, although I play one on TV my kids and hubby sometimes think I am!
The caller was having lunch with a friend and talking about her daughter's condo that had been listed for almost FOUR YEARS. Her daughter wasn't happy with her current realtor and was thinking of switching when the listing expires (in April). The friend apparently is also in … (17 comments)

cleveland: The New "Old-Fashioned Way"? - 03/21/09 04:45 AM
Ok, I'll admit it...I was dragged kicking and screaming into the world wide web 10 years ago. But I still called 411 to get phone numbers and looked up addresses in that big, white, now-almost-obsolete book that sits in the living room, under the telephone. Yes, I also still have a phone that PLUGS IN to the wall. Imagine that!!

So I had to chuckle this morning when I asked my husband, "What are your plans for today?"
Hubby: "I'm going to plot a route to some estate and moving sales." His hobby is "sale-ing".
Me: "Would you … (8 comments)

cleveland: Houses ARE Selling in Northeast Ohio! - 03/12/09 01:27 AM
In just the past 30 days, in my relatively small office of 33 agents, we've had the following activity:
30 homes in Contingency or Pending status and 12 Closings! In one of the coldest months of the year! And those buyers will soon be visiting Walmart and The Home Depot, putting much-needed money back into the economy.
This past week, I've personally had 2 buyers in multiple offer situations on bankowned properties. Unfortunately my one buyer was outbid on his, but the other couple is waiting patiently (ha!) by the phone...hoping I'll be calling with good news any minute. (me too!!) That house went on the market … (2 comments)

cleveland: The 10 Unhappiest American Cities?? Bah!! - 03/10/09 09:21 AM
Ok...how many of you read this in today's Daily Real Estate News?
10 Unhappiest American Cities No sun, no jobs and lots of foreclosures. This can be a recipe for unhappiness. Not surprisingly, some cities whose residents struggle with lots of these issues also have high levels of suicide, clinical depression, divorce and violent crime.BusinessWeek.com ranked 50 of the largest metros based on their misery and depression levels. The depression scoring is based on insurance reporting. The rest of the rankings come from the National Assembly of County & City Health Officials, FBI crime reports, the U.S. Weather Bureau and the … (6 comments)

cleveland: I Love Cleveland!! - 06/16/08 02:51 PM

Today, my husband and I went on a cruise...on Lake Erie! We took the same cruise 3 years ago on our wedding day, so this was our anniversary cruise! Those of you from the Cleveland area already know about the Nautica Queen. For those of you who don't, it's a beautiful little cruise ship that starts out on the Cuyahoga River, ferries out onto Lake Erie and comes back -- total time for the luncheon cruise is 2 hours. And what a fun time!! Great food, great service and a DJ *slash* Tour Guide telling corny jokes along with giving a very informative narrative. … (18 comments)

cleveland: It's all about Meme! - 06/12/08 01:03 PM
Thanks Ronda, for meme-ing me! These are some things I don't get a chance to think about very much...it's been fun!
1.  Who is your favorite musical artist?
I have to admit, I was in high school in the 70s. So my favorites are Bruce Springsteen (Born To Run era), The Moody Blues, ELO and BOSTON!! <Happy Birthday, Brad Delp. RIP>
2.  Who is your favorite artist?
Not to steal from Ronda, but MY daughter! She just graduated from high school, and is going to Kent State in the Fall to major in Art.
3. Who is your favorite blogger?
Jennifer Allan -  She's the reason … (4 comments)

cleveland: Summer ending and sanity still intact!! - 08/25/07 04:59 AM
As you may recall, I began this summer with tons of things to do...most importantly to get through real estate classes, take and pass the state exam, and survive!!!
First of all, I did make it through school, and I am now a graduate of Hondros College's Real Estate program.  I took the state exam and passed on my first try!!
"The Girl" did indeed go to France for 2 weeks...and I thank GOD I was in school the whole time!  I would've been a nervous wreck had I been sitting at work, staring at the computer screen and fretting about … (5 comments)

cleveland: My turn to Meme!! - 08/11/07 03:25 PM
Thank you, Karen Rice, for meme-ing me!
Here's how it all began:  http://activerain.com/blogsview/27305/The-First-ActiveRain-Meme
And now I have to think of 5 things that you don't know about me.  Hmmm...considering I haven't been around AR all that long, there's probably LOTS of things you don't know about me.  But since I have to choose just 5, here goes:

1)     I LOVE elephants!!
One of my favorite places in the whole world is the Cleveland MetroparksZoo!
They've even taught the girls how to paint...and yes, I have one of Moshi's paintings on the wall above my piano.  : )

I've been collecting all things related to elephants since I was 13 … (12 comments)

cleveland: Future Generation of Salesmen! - 07/19/07 12:50 AM
Last evening was the big fundraiser for our high school's football program.  As in past years, $10 "Gold Cards", good for discounts from local restaurants and other businesses, were to be sold door-to-door by the football players.  Our job as parents was to pick a section of town, drive our individual 'team', and act as coaches...motivating them to get as many cards sold in 3 hours as possible.  The goal was 125 cards sold per team.  I didn't count the boys, but there must have been about 7 teams, with an average of 7-10 boys on a team.  Just about every … (5 comments)

cleveland: The Summer of 2007! - 05/30/07 02:03 AM
Now that the unofficial beginning of summer has come and gone, it's time to start thinking about what we'll all be doing in the Summer of '07.  For me, my summer will be filled with real estate classes and studying!!  I've already found the broker where I'll be hanging my hat -- and my license.  The North Olmsted office of Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer will be my future home.  And it couldn't be more perfect, as I live in North Olmsted and know the area and surrounding communities very well.  This is my home...where my kids go to school, where 'the girl' will be … (4 comments)
