Sometimes the sunset just beckons and you have to stop the car, get out and take a breathtaking shot. Yesterday was one of those days. This photo was taken from the public dock on Lakeshore Drive at the end of Harbor Lake Drive. This is looking southwest in the direction of Swimming Pen Creek and Whitey's Fish Camp. Fall in Florida is so spectacular.

Eagle Harbor Golf Club is sponsoring a Charity Event on Sept. 27, offering lessons at a discount. The money will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation and the Camp No Limits Foundation. These organizations help people to adapt to prosthetics and also provide life-skills training.
PGA Instructors will give the lessons.
Time - 9am to 4pm.
Cost - $20 for 30-minute lesson
$40 for 60-minute lesson

It was one of her life's dreams and today it is an important part of Fleming Island history. Margaret Seton Fleming wanted very much to build a church at her plantation on the banks of the St. Johns River on Fleming Island Florida. That dream was thwarted by life's events, including the burning of the family home, the death of her husband and the Civil War. Finally, in 1875, construction began on Margaret's Chapel.

Fleming Island FL is growing up. In just a few months, our new movie theater opens. . O'Connor Development negotiated with Carmike Cinemas, whose headquarters are in Columbus, GA, to build a 12-screen, 42,000 square-foot theater complex on Town Center Boulevard just south of the intersection of East West Parkway.

Jim Proctor of Tree Amigos is back at the helm of Eagle Harbor Landscaping. Eagle Harbor, located on Fleming Island in Clay County, FL won so many awards for its community and environmental use of the land that eventually the developer bowed out so other communities could win. Jim was the original head of landscaping who planned and planted the lovely beds we have enjoyed for the last 15 years.

After 15 years, East West Partners has turned the reins of the Eagle Harbor golf, tennis and swim amenities over to Hampton Golf.

Congratulations to everyone at Fleming Island High! Once again we are an 'A' rated school and also we are the 25th best high school in the entire state of Florida! This great news just came out in our most recent newsletter from our Principal, Sam Ward.
