florida: Gumball 3000 Rally
- 05/10/09 02:31 PM
Yesterday the Gumball 3000 Rally cross-country racing event breezed through Orlando on its way to Miami and we were able to photograph and video some fantastic cars as well as meet some new friends. Stopping at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes yesterday evening, the 130+ cars zoomed in at various times during the evening. Some were quiet (Bentley, Mercedes), some roared (Lamborghini, Ford GT, Ferrari, Porsche), some amused (CXT International emblazoned with Playboy logos) and all were documented. Trivia learned: The Bugatti Veyrons haven't been seen in a couple of days. Rumor has it they were impounded and the owners arrested while (6 comments)

Orange Park Country Club (formal name is Country Club of Orange Park) in Orange Park, Florida is a guard-gated community located off Blanding Boulevard a few miles south of I-295. The community was originally developed by Stokes Land Group, a well-known Jacksonville developer who developed many other communities including Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra and destination communities at Amelia Island. In 1993, a British company, Taylor Woodrow, purchased Orange Park Country Club and finished the development. The Country Club joins Loch Rane which was developed in the 1970s and is a community of homes on estate lots with majestic (12 comments)

Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club in Green Cove Springs, Florida is a lovely community just off Highway 17 as you cross Governor's Creek bridge. Magnolia Point was developed in the 1980s. It was the second guard-gated golf and country club in the area, following the popular Ravines Golf & Country Club. Both courses were designed by Mark McCumber of Ponte Vedra Beach. I remember when Magnolia was brand new and seemed so far out! Now it's just down the road since Fleming Island was developed. Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club is a 1000 acre community which features a 27 (10 comments)
florida: Florida's Charlie Crist Named Most Fiscally Responsible Governor in US
- 11/02/08 01:43 PM
Florida Governor Charlie Crist was recently named the most fiscally conservative of all the governors in the US. This was published by the Cato Institute in its Annual Fiscal Policy Report Card. For the complete report, see http://www.cato.org/ What is impressive to me is the fact that Florida has no state income tax, and an Amendment to our Constitution was passed this year reducing our property taxes. So during a year like Florida has had, being one of the states with the most foreclosures, receiving an honor like this is doubly impressive in my eyes. A fiscally-conservative governor will attract more (14 comments)
florida: Statistics Don't Lie - Antidote to Negative Media
- 11/14/07 03:46 AM
Today I've had it. I am so sick of reading only negative information in the newspapers, on the TV, on the internet. Everyone knows life has cycles and real estate is no exception. But if you're glued to the media, you'd think Armageddon was knocking at our door. It is the epitome of yellow journalism. Highlight the bad - no, ram it down our throats - and, oh, sorry, neglect to give the other side of the story. Here are some statistics - an antidote to the negative media: In our market, over $400,000,000 in real estate was sold last (6 comments)
