Five homes in the Hollywood Heights / Santa Monica Neighborhood of Dallas will be on tour Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5:00 PM, during the 25th Annual Hollywood / Santa Monica Home Tour. This event benefits Lumin Lindsley Park Community School, Eduardo Mata Elementary School, and Long Middle School.
Designated as a Conservation District in 1989, this neighborhood has retained its original charm. The gently rolling hills and tree lined streets are the perfect backdrop for a variety of architectural styles including Tudor Cottage, Minimal Traditional, Monterrey, Craftsman, Pueblo Revival, Spanish Eclectic and French Eclectic.

Take time this weekend to attend one of my favorite Dallas home tours. This weekend is the eleventh annual White Rock Home Tour featuring Mid-Century Modern homes. Creative design and decorating takeaways can be found in each of the homes on this year's tour. Our weather is perfect for heading to Old Lake Highlands to view and be inspired by the architecture and design of the homes on tour.

Sunday, November 15, is the last day of the Lakewood Home Festival. Homes will be open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Featured homes are located on the west side of White Rock Lake, between West Lawther Drive and Abrams Road. Street parking is available near each of the homes on the tour.

Mark your calendar. Hexter Elementary School in Dallas is hosting the White Rock Home tour April 25 and 26. The focus of this annual tour of homes is modern architecture. This year Six Homes will be open to the public. Check out the Sneak Peek at one of the six homes on tour. This is one of my favorite home tours. Many of the homes provide guests with an education about new building materials that conserve energy. The Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society Home Tour is April 11. Four historic properties will be open to the public for the Park Cities Tour. My favorite is the 1950 Mid-Century Modern home on Amherst built by Arch Swank. The home was one of four original homes built around a small lake. The enclave, referred to as Culture Gulch, was home to four families involved in the arts at SMU. The original owner of Amherst was a well loved Dallas artist who set up a studio in his home. Holiday spirit will fill the homes on the sixteenth annual Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association (ABPA) Holiday Home Tour the morning of Friday December 5. This year, five homes will be open to the public, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the festive holiday decorations in each home. There will be a holiday market in one of the homes. Find the perfect gift for someone special on your holiday shopping list. Approximately 97% of the money raised at this event will go directly to the schools.

Lovers of Mid-Century Modern Architecture look forward to the annual Preservation Dallas Architectural Tour. Six architectural gems will be showcased on the 2013 Tour. The Tour will begin at the Kalita Humphreys Theater on Turtle Creek Boulevard. Preservation Dallas has put together a panel to discuss Mid-Century Modern Architecture in Dallas.
