Purdue University Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering
Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering on the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University is named in honor of Purdue University Alumnus Neil Armstrong, the first person to step foot on the moon in July 1969.
This accomplishment was the culmination of the promise made by President Kennedy during the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union that America would put a person on the moon by the end of the decade of the 1960's.
