How can an automotive plant that employes almost 3,000 people have zero landfill waste since May, 2004? We covered in parts I-III how Subaru cuts down on potential waste by REDUCING the potential amount of landfill waste and then RE-USING materials instead of recycling them(it does cost to recycle). All the materials that can't be reduced any more as usable material or re-used are then RECYCLED. Even waste from the SIA cafeteria is not considered waste. Last week about ten of our agents from Keller Williams Realty in Lafayette, Indiana took a tour of the Subaru of Indiana automotive plant in Lafayette. Why did we visit? What could a factory teach us about real estate? YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED! 1. It gives us a better sense of what is happening at the local level concerning employment trends for our community. (I will deal more with this in part II tomorrow) 2. We witnessed an incredible sense of teamwork and cooperation among the associates who worked there.
