I know the kitchen is the most important room in the house but the mudroom and laundry room get so much traffic and use that most people don't want them to be dingy. Renovating these rooms may not be on the top of a homeowner's list but I have to say that it can not only make you happy as a homeowner but make a potential buyer do a little happy dance! In my previous post I showed the incredible transformation of a mudroom. Check out "A Mudroom Makeover" if you missed it. Now I want to show the transformation of the laundry room right next door that was done at the same time. Laundry rooms do not need to be boring and just for function. In fact, in home sales buyers are loving having a laundry room that doesn't feel like a dungeon and can make laundry time not seem like such a chore. The mudroom looking into the laundry before:

On my last post I showed photos of a farmhouse that I designed from the ground up. Not everyone has the luxury to buy or build a new home but they like the farmhouse look that has been made popular by Chip and Joanna Gaines of the hit HGTV show "Fixer Upper". redesign minneapolis mn: Farmhouse Chic Hits Suburban Minneapolis!

The farmhouse style home is all the rage right now, made famous by Chip and Joanna on HGTV's show 'Fixer Upper'. I just had the opportunity to design a farmhouse style house from the blueprints up, and then stage it. What a fun experience and may I say I want this house! It has elements of rustic but with modern and chic mixed in. A warm and cozy home for sure. I want to share the photos with you so if you also are a huge fan of 'Fixer Upper' like I am, you may enjoy these.
A UK company asked to interview me as part of their "Designer Insight" series and the article just came out. I think it turned out great and I am so excited I had the opportunity.

For some reason I have been into color lately. In my clothes, my work, and my home. Maybe it is because it is Spring and the dull winter is finally over. Here are a few examples of how I added color recently to my life and it was SO easy. I bought some spray paint and things that were previously white or brown became colorful. Tables, candle holders and more.
ZOWEY!! A few cans of vibrant spray paint from Rustoleum and look at all the happy color. I also bought more colorful flower pots and throw pillows.

I love mixing old and new. Things from the past and current trends. You know that saying 'what's old is new again' and that is the case with Mercury Glass. You can find great Mercury glass pieces in Antique Stores, Flea Markets and even on Grandma's shelf. And you can find new Mercury Glass items now everywhere, even at discount stores!
I love putting collections of Mercury Glass pieces together as a display or one piece individually as an accent piece in a bathroom or on entryway table.

Yes Irene..that's what I said! Free paint on Saturday! Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch paint anymore.
