It's early, it's cold and it's Saint Patrick's Day. The parades are over and even though today is the day, many celebrations happened this past weekend. If you're looking for corn beef and cabbage you can find it, but it seems odd to me when days are shifted. I like to celebrate my birthday when ...

I like to look forward but last year at this time I was psyched, ready and hopeful too. I had just closed on my previous home and was ready for my new adventure in my new old home in a new area I chose because I loved it. So life was good, but then it happened, I fell. In a matter of minutes my l...

Most of us have them whether or not we recognize or acknowledge this truth. We are relatively predictable and have routines that prove this. As I type I am waiting for my breakfast. Coffee is brewing and my bagel is in the oven heating. I'll finish this blog, leave my comments, enjoy my breakfast...

I always enjoy making something from something else. Frankly I feel pretty smart and enjoy both the creativity of the process and the savings I enjoy. I had an old warped exterior door that was left from my construction. Now it is a laundry table in the basement and a dual potting top on the exte...

I am usually prepared for things: I work at it. However, some times things happen beyond my control and in those circumstances I do my best to be inventive. Both utilize propane and the tank and the gas are provided by the same person who supplies my oil. It has been a hard winter and the cost of heating is far m...

On my way back from the animal shelter where I volunteer on Wednesday morning there is an antique store. I like antiques and so I stopped. I parked and went in and a young woman came running and asked me to move the car. There was no one in the store except the two of us, and no cars in the lot. ...

Every day all over the world animals are killed and abandoned and abused. Those of us who love pets, scratch that, our fur family are horrified and frequently turn away from posts on or about needy pets and can't bear to watch the television commercials for animal saving organizations. I share yo...

It's been a long and hard winter but a wonderful one too. Sometimes the preparation for events to come is a gift in organization, in gratitude, and even in taking stock. Understanding the importance of what matters and what will be is an important thing to learn.  We can't change the weather, we ...

Pretty good weekend and then my day started with my elecrician. We came, he installed, he's gone. I went to the post office and picked up a package. I ordered some old light bulbs for an antique lamp I have and the bulbs are wrong. I should have asked for clarification on the size. All of then ar...
