Minneapolis was ranked 6th best city for an active lifestyle in 2016 and it is nowhere more evident than around its city lakes. Although Easter was the first full day of spring this year, it was on Monday that spring was really in the air. The sun shone, temperatures rose, and people came out in droves to walk, run, rollerblade and cycle around the lakes. It seems that walkable neighborhoods are becoming increasingly important to home buyers. I think there are numerous factors at play... a longing for a greater sense of community, a more relaxed pace, more healthful living, eco-friendly. Whatever the reasons, city neighborhoods are responding and you will find many more corner coffee shops where the locals gather than you did a decade ago. There aren't as many urban areas that offer a true small town 'downtown' feel, however.
