95 percent of San Luis Obispo County beaches got high marks - grades of A or B, in a study released by Heal the Bay, on October 20, 2010.  The exception was the monitoring station at Pismo Beach Pier that received a C.  The C grade was however, an improvement over the previous year's grade of D.  Another good news was that no sewage spills were reported in the County during summer

lifestyle: Proposed Bike Path Between Morro Bay & Cayucos - 10/30/10 07:44 PM

San Luis Obispo County Parks Department has proposed to build a bike path that connects Morro Bay and Cayucos.
The two-and-half-mile path will start from Cloisters Park in Morro Bay to the planned Norma Rose Park in Cayucos.  In addition to the existing roads within Morro Bay and Cayucos, a new bike-and-pedestrian path running from Yerba Buena Street in Morro Bay to Studio Drive in Cayucos is being proposed.

According to Wall Street Journal's Smart Money magazine, San Luis Obispo is among the top nine places to retire in the U.S.
San Luis Obispo rated high in its city's "distinct civic personality" in terms of its smoking ban, and limits on drive-through restaurants.  While the article indicated that the median price of a two-bedroom home in San Luis Obispo is higher than the national average, at around $355,000, Smart Money also shared that San Luis Obispo is much cheaper than Santa Barbara, where the median home price is at $771,000.

As a resident of Cayucos, I am biased and love my home town.  Cayucos is one of the few remaining beach towns that offers great surf and free public fishing on the pier.  It's a place where time forgot and where the West meets the surf...and not to forget the gorgeous sunsets.   Housing about 3,000 people, the town is a mix of old and new homes.  Land is scarce and supply is limited. As such, home prices are higher in Cayucos when compared to most of San Luis Obispo County.  Homes situated along the popular Pacific Avenue and Studio Drive runs parallel to the ocean … (4 comments)
