This time of year brings to mind hurricane season in Texas and Louisiana. This means that when a hurricane hits many shelters are set up in the Dallas area. As a Red Cross Volunteer certified in Emergency Shelters this is usually a busy time of year - and not just for the real estate market. Hopefully, we will not have another Katrina with multiple hurricanes to follow. Should this happen though, I will be knee deep in cots and scared evacuees. Wow! After all my years in real estate I have never seen a better time to buy a home. Not only are their low interest rates (yes, even with the rate slightly up) but there is an $8,000 stimulous package for Buyers to take advantage of. When I purchased my home in the late '80's the intrest rates were 18% and up. Most of my real esate career they hovered around 7 - 8 %.
