home staging tasmania: Dilemma of a home stager - when to charge? - 08/15/09 01:21 PM
I am a firm believer that an upfront payment is the only way to go in the process of assisting clients sell their house particularly when I have my inventory sitting in their property for an extended period. It is that simple. I get my contract and payment and then the work is done.
But just recently I have been toying with the idea of a different pricing strategy whereby I get half up front and half at settlement of the sale of the home. While this is full of risks, the strategy may also increase the amount of business I … (8 comments)

home staging tasmania: Why use home staging if you are not going to show home staging? - 07/09/09 05:26 PM
I have recently completed a number of vacant property home staging installations and I have been perplexed by the lack of use of photos taken after the installation to promote and market the property.
In my market, a weekly liftout guide is published in the Friday edition of a major daily newspaper. This is a great publication for me as a home stager to review for potential new work. If I see an empty property listed I will contact the agent and endeavor to provide a quote.

home staging tasmania: The Shift vacant staging travelling road show! - 05/14/08 12:04 PM
I recently completed a staging project for a vacant property located in a city two hours north of where my inventory and I are based in Hobart, Tasmania. The developer was very forward thinking and understood how I wanted to work the project. I … (7 comments)

home staging tasmania: Selecting the right furniture to buy - 05/03/08 05:02 PM
It has been sometime since I have been on Active Rain, and wow, things keep pumping along in here. It is so refreshing to come back after an absence and see the committed writers still providing us with their learnings, their inspirations and their terrific ideas.
I have been spending time further developing my furniture inventory and attending trade shows finding the best deals on the new styles of furniture coming out here in Australia. I find these exhibitions the best place to find stock and to be able to purchase houselots the most cost effectively.
One thing I have found in recent … (13 comments)

home staging tasmania: Is staging a home subjective? - 10/04/07 04:27 PM
It is an interesting experience being a property presenter (or home stager) in that you can encounter some negative feedback from people who have never used your services. I recently heard 2nd hand comments from an agent who had advised their vendor not to consider staging a property as the process was 'too subjective' and really only reflected the ideas of one person. This raises an interesting point. Having your home evaluated for sale by a home stager IS a subjective practice. It is the review of one property by one person. So in that case, how does the home stager … (11 comments)
