sonoma ranch: FICO 850 - 04/08/08 02:21 PM
What is FICO 850? Very simply, FICO scores range from a low of 300 to a high of 850. FICO 850 is the numerical representation of a perfect credit score.
Since the early 1970s, most of the consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) have been using computers to aggregate all the information that comes into them each day from creditors everywhere.
Each of the three major CRAs has a partnership with (F)air, (I)saac & (Co)mpany (FICO). Assuming your credit report is identical at all three CRAs, your score should also be the same at all three. Often, however, the various CRAs have different (and … (5 comments)

De-Cluttering Your Home Before Listing
Whenever I list a house that is part of an estate, I am always a little saddened to see all the things a couple or a person has collected during their lifetime that will now be sold to strangers with the unsold items donated to Goodwill. Many times the survivors want very little of what is left to them by a relative.  People collect an amazing amount of "stuff," and many people collect a lot of "junk."  Some people even hoard "stuff" and "junk" which creates a big problem for themselves and their loved ones.  If you haven't used it in … (7 comments)

sonoma ranch: Curb Appeal - 04/01/08 11:10 AM
The Importance of Curb Appeal
The first view, the first impression, a buyer has of your house is the curbside view so it is very important to make sure your home has great curb appeal.  After all, no matter how wonderful the interior of a home is, if a buyer declines to view the interior based on the appearance of the exterior,  your house will stay on the market longer and you may get a lower offer than you would otherwise.
Keep sidewalks cleared. Mow, water, weed, and edge the lawn. Paint faded window trim. Since the color yellow evokes a buying emotion, plant yellow … (9 comments)

sonoma ranch: Gone To Texas - 03/28/08 12:39 AM
According to Census Bureau estimates released Thursday, four metropolitan areas in Texas were among the biggest population gainers in 2006 and 2007.  At the top of the list is the combined Dallas - Ft. Worth area which grew by more than 162,000 residents.  A report issued earlier this month by Global Insight reported that housing prices in the Dallas area were undervalued by as much as 30 percent.  16 percent of Americans who moved to other states between July 2006 and July 2007 came to Texas.  Much of the growth in the South is credited to relatively strong local economies and housing prices that … (0 comments)

sonoma ranch: Relocation - 03/25/08 02:15 PM
Relocating can be stressful, expensive and time consuming.  Your move may be prompted by a new job, retirement, military orders, or a wish for a change in climate.  With relocation, you risk the expense of buying a new home and selling your existing home, and the time and effort of moving your family to a new location where you hope the entire family will be happy.
Relocation companies do a good job of specializing in helping manage the logistics of your move, such as making sure your furniture arrives in a timely manner.  But finding the right neighborhood or town is often … (0 comments)

sonoma ranch: Cute idea! - 03/24/08 03:17 PM
I just discovered the website designhergals, which lets you create a cute cartoon image of yourself or any woman you know and then have it printed on stationery, notecards, stickers, etc. I was playing around with it and created little cartoons of myself and my daughter. Adorable!
Design-her Gals was founded by Jeanne Fitzmaurice, an entrepreneur who recognized the importance of a personalized stationery line that expresses the multi-facets of a woman, literally and metaphorically. Fitzmaurice hopes to carve out her niche in the $7.5 billion dollar stationery industry, taking self-expression to the next level.

sonoma ranch: Riven Rock Ranch Resort - 03/09/08 05:42 AM

Quite by accident I came across the website for Riven Rock Ranch Resort on the Boerne Chamber of Commerce website. The ranch resort is located near Boerne and Comfort in Kendall County.  I was totally unaware of it's existence.  This looks like a great place for locals to visit, especially for an Easter brunch/dinner. Maybe I can talk my husband into going. :-)  It would also be a great place for tourists visiting San Antonio and the Hill Country.

Comfort, Texas was established by German settlers 1854. Today, Comfort, Texas is a popular tourist area with numerous camps along the Guadalupe River operated by various civic organizations. Visitors enjoy fishing, swimming and camping during summer months. Hunting is popular during the fall and winter. Visitors find Comfort Shopping interesting year round.

sonoma ranch: History of Boerne TX & March Events...Enjoy! - 03/08/08 02:27 AM
The city of Boerne is named for Ludwig Borne, who inspired many young men to leave Germany in the 1840's and travel to the new world.  Some of these German pioneers created a settlement called "Tusculum" near present day Johns Road.  Even after most of the original creators had moved on, a few of the men decided to remain and named the area Boerne. The land on which the settlement stood was eventually bought by Gustav Theissen and John James, who platted the town in 1851.  As businesses grew and stagecoach routes began to appear in the area, Boerne itself began … (0 comments)

sonoma ranch: What's In & What's Out - 03/07/08 01:08 PM
The National Association of REALTORS recently conducted a survey of "What Buyers Want" and real estate columnist Mark Nash annually posts his opinions on "what's in and what's out with homebuyers in 2008".  Combining the best of both (some are realistic - some are far-fetched) - the opinions show....
~  buyers want oversized garages, updated kitchens, baths, pristine conditions and a perception of value
~   they want destination bathrooms that have evolved into a home getaway with several task areas, throne bathtubs, wireless internet access, multiple flatscreen tv's and even outfitted with serving bars for wine coolers, espresso machines and snacks;
