I got an email today that Hella Mitschke Rothwell mentioned me in a post Do you "follow" your "followers" thereby giving them 50 points? The world is changing are you? When I started in real estate there were no computers. Listings were printed in thick mls books, and contracts were sent out via USPS. We then went through the stage of emails, scans faxing and websites and I was very comfortable with that. Have you noticed we are shifting again. Most people will contact you on facebook, text to your cell phone. Voice calls and email are starting to fall out of favor by at least the younger crowd. Are you preparing for the changing times?

We all hate annoying computer generated calls and spam email. Did you know that you might be sending emails and phone alerts to all your followers to let them know you ate a ham and cheese sandwhich? Oh boy, now that is a blunder. On google plus, do not send a mail to your circle of friends, unless you really do want them to get messages about the post.

I am still guilty about this. I am a work aholic and I run a business and am a real estate agent, my social media reflects mostly business because that is most of what I do. I am a private person so it is extremely hard for me to make personal posts. Social Media is not just a venue for promoting your listings, area, or yourself. It is for communicating with people. Ok Ok I admit I was one of the ones that thought facebook, twitter, google plus etc would never take off. I know, shame on me! I still do not fully understand why people post what they had for lunch, but maybe it is a sign that I am getting older. I can just claim I do not remember what I had for lunch, but someone would tell me that if I had tweeted it, I could then look it up.
