politicians: What's in the "We're All Going To Die Avoidance Bill of 2008"? - 10/02/08 08:40 AM
Phew!!!! Those really nice people sitting in the United States Senate saved us last night. I mean all the dire warnings of the earth opening up and swalling us all if we didn't spend $700 billion. I don't know about you, but that was a close run thing.
Anyway, it would seem that a few other items slipped through as well as saving the world and i thought it might be useful to look at them.
Section 325 provides tax breaks for the wool research fund. Hmm... What exactly don't we know about wool? Makes nice clothes, hard to swallow.

politicians: Bend over America! - 10/01/08 04:17 PM
So far the market doesn't like it with futures showing losses across the board. That to me is minor as I feel we have slipped through the looking glass today.
I tried to contact both Florida Senators this morning. The Republican one had a full mail box. The Democrat one had a constantly busy line. I e-mailed them both.
And much to my surprise tonight it was the Democrat Bill Nelson who voted "NO" while the Republican Mel Martinez who voted to put you and me on the hook for the criminal goings on that have created this crisis.
So while … (14 comments)

politicians: Why should we trust these lying fools? - 09/30/08 04:42 AM
The current crisis has been a long time coming. There is a fundamental disconnect between the people and our so-called leaders. Simply stated, we do not trust them.
It started with Nixon. The lies. The garbage. The promises. And it has carried through both parties in Congress and in the White House. Right now in Florida with have Ric Keller. Eight years ago he publicly signed a term limit pledge stating he would not serve longer than eight years. He received tremendous backing from the organization that promotes term limits and of course now he has gone back on that … (14 comments)

politicians: So you want to know why gas is expensive? - 07/11/08 04:00 AM
There are many reasons. OPEC, speculators, our own Congress and my personal favorite, environmentalists!
We haven't built a refinery in the United States in 40 years! Apart from anything else, this means that we have to import refined gas as well as actual oil.
Just this week an envrionmentalist group has filed yet another lawsuit - this time preventing the State of Indiana and BP from expanding an existing refinery - even though the expanded facility meets or exceeds state and federal pollution regulations and even though it will result in an overall reduction in air emissions!
The Natural Resources Defense … (23 comments)

politicians: Just how low will it go? - 07/08/08 06:16 AM
If you've been paying attention, then what follows here will not come as a surprise to you. If however, you have not been watching then you will be shocked to discover that for the first time in its history, the country's approval rating of the United States Congress has fallen to SINGLE FIGURES.
Yes just 9% - NINE PER CENT - of the population thinks Congress is doing an excellent or a good job.
While these figures have been falling steadilysince the democrats took control a couple of years ago, no one really could have foreseen just how bad it was … (66 comments)

politicians: The lunatics have taken over the asylum!! - 06/12/08 01:58 AM
The "drill nothing" Congress did it again yesterday - refusing to lift a ban signed by President Clinton on off-shore drilling. A House subcommittee on Wednesday rejected a Republican-led effort to open up more U.S. coastal waters to oil and gas exploration - but in a partisan vote, Democrats rejected the proposal.
The world is laughing at us! Every other country in the world is developing every single resource it has - everyone except us that is. China and India are drilling in the Gulf - just 40 miles off of Florida's coast - and they are using a technique called … (67 comments)

politicians: The Democratic "sleaze" play by play"! - 03/11/08 06:07 AM

Take a look at these two pictures. The one furthers to the right is that of New York Governor Spitzer and his wife  at his "I'm so sorry" speech. The one just to the left of that is of New Jersey Governor, James McGreevey and his wife at a similar speech.
It is apparent to me at least, that there is some kind of Democratic Party play book on how to handle these situations. Both women to their husband's right. Both in similar colored jackets.  Both wearing delicate pearl necklaces. Meanwhile the men are both stood in front of the Stars and Stripes. … (24 comments)
