south carolina: Spring Comes Early In Myrtle Beach SC - 03/10/11 08:56 AM
Late February and early March mean spring blooms in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area.  It's only March 10th and the pear trees are already past their peak bloom days.

Pollen is beginning as the trees and flowers get ready for the great spring weather.  Spring seems to last for several months and is my favorite time of year.

south carolina: County Real Estate Property Tax Assessments Are Beyond Rediculous - 10/15/10 02:51 PM
In my County within South Carolina real estate owners are now receiving their property tax bill for 2010.  During the past several days clients have been calling to ask me why their homes "Fair Market Value" had increased, in one case, by almost one hundred thousand dollars and their annual property tax owed had increased several thousands of dollars.  I could only tell them to appeal the Assessment because homes comparable in their neighborhood were being appraised by licensed Appraisers for less then their previous "Fair Market Value".
If the property tax bills my clients received were in error I would be the first to … (1 comments)

south carolina: Real Estate In North Myrtle Beach SC At North Beach Plantation - 07/16/10 01:57 AM
I recently took some clients to North Beach Plantation and we all felt like we had arrived at a Caribbean luxury resort and since it is such a unique neighborhood in North Myrtle Beach you may want to know what it has to offer.
North Beach Plantation spreads from Hwy 17 to the ocean beside 48th Ave. S in the Windy Hill section of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A private beach with no street to cross as you walk or use your golf cart type vehicle through the Plantation to the beach.
Oceanfront condos are available in the Towers and … (1 comments)

south carolina: Freezing At 52 Degrees - 03/05/10 02:40 AM
I can't believe what I'm about to say, "I have become a cold weather wimp".  When we lived in Maryland I thought 50 degrees was Spring and no winter coat weather. After living full-time in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for over five years if the temperature is below 60 degrees I'm putting on the heavy coat.  I have to say that this winter and last were below normal temperatures and I am ready for this weekend when we may hit 70 degrees.  I want to see more winters where my heavy coat never comes out of the closet.

south carolina: ACC May Not Come To Myrtle Beach - 05/26/09 12:52 PM
The News today is that the NAACP is trying to block the ACC Baseball conference from coming to Myrtle Beach because they have a problem with the State of South Carolina.  They say there is an ongoing boycott by the NAACP against the State based on the Confederate Flag at the capital. That boycott has evidently been in place for years but has not been mentioned since its inception.  Blocking college baseball in Myrtle Beach when nothing has been said by the NAACP to participants coming to the Atlantic Beach Bike Rally that is held annually caused me to be confused. … (0 comments)

south carolina: Real Estate Buyers Agent - A Realtor's Service Free - 08/29/08 07:38 AM
Real estate buyers are hurting themselves and they don't even know why.
It seems that most buyers think:
 • If they find property to buy on their own they will get a better deal.
 • If they contact multiple real estate agents and have them look for the same type of property in the same area they will have a better selection.
• All real estate agents are working for the property seller.
• They will have to pay to have a real estate agent work with them to find property to buy.
• If they withhold the truth or simply … (0 comments)

south carolina: The Grand Strand - 07/11/08 05:20 AM
Prior to moving to Myrtle Beach from Maryland we spent many of our vacations in the area.  Hidden in my memory was our being told that "The Grand Strand" was a 60 mile coastal area that begins in North Carolina south into South Carolina with Myrtle Beach as the hub or middle.
I had begun to doubt my memory since we had moved permanently to this area because I have heard long-time residents refer to The Grand Strand in different lengths and areas.  A few days ago I noticed in the first line of a blog the words  ".... "The Grand … (1 comments)

south carolina: Myrtle Beach on HGTV - 06/23/08 02:52 AM
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was featured on House Hunters.      Last night, Episode HNT-2509, on HGTV's show talked about housing prices that are the lowest on the east coast.  Since I'm a realtor who has been watching HGTV for about five years it was exciting to hear the area get recognized but I also realized that now the world had found out what some of us already knew.
