theater: Orange County our Vacation Land

We live in Vacation land and we are always planning a vacation somewhere else. It seems to me that we could help our local economy by going to local eateries, enjoying nearby lounges, visiting OC entertainment centers. 4th of July weekend was the first time we stayed local for this holiday. We enjoyed the sights by riding bicycles from Corona Del Mar down the coast onto Balboa Island. We went in and out of local shops; then took the Balboa ferry across to the Balboa Peninsula and then we rode up the board walk all the way up to Huntington Beach … (0 comments)
theater: All My Sons

This weekend we attended a local theater in Newport Beach, Newport Theatre Arts Center on Cliff Drive. They usually have about 6 plays a season for about 6 weeks each. This last one we attended was especially good. All My Sons. All the actors were exceptional. Talented, believable in their parts and you lost yourself in the action. The breat came and you didnt want to leave for fear of missing the second half. theater: Movie Critics dont have all the answers

Burlesque was a great movie with great music and story line and entertaining and not too long and I have seen it five times I loved it so much...But movie critics didn't so I had to search it out to be able to see it that many times. It went, within one week, from a new Movie to a hard to find movie in only one or two locations. Why? I prefer not to read the write ups that movie critics give. I watch the previews and make my own decision on whether or not to see it. Then I buy … (0 comments)
theater: Opening night at Newport Theater Arts Center

Last night was a perfect evening. This neighborhood theater is a small venue with 10 rows of 12 seats. They have no heat or Air conditioning but during the winter they offer blankets to keep you warm while you laugh at comedies and cry at dramas. During intermission they offer coffee,water and 7up and cookies. Last night was Opening Night for a comedy "Killjoy" written by Jerry Mayer.This author also wrote MASH,All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show,& Facts of Life' . The actors are local talent.
