simpsonville: Turning the Corner - 08/21/08 12:24 AM
According to Realty Times, pending sales are way up!  It seems we may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  These new numbers should only improve as first time buyers may start to take advantage of the $7500 tax credit.  I have been sending this information to every renter I can find, as I am sure most are not aware this is available to them. From the Realty Times:
On a national basis, the index jumped by 5.3 percent last month. But more importantly, it rose in every region of the country, suggesting that the turnaround underway is broad-based -- even if … (10 comments)

simpsonville: Imagine the possibilites! - 08/17/08 02:09 PM

Talk about alternative energy! This is pretty creative! The Solar Powered Necktie!
Look Sharp and Geeky at the same time!
Now a group of researchers at Iowa State University have created a necktie using newly developed solar fabrics. The neat thing, is that the tiny solar panels are arranged in a grid that looks kind of like what you might see on a tie anyway. There's even a pocket sewn into the back where you can stash the device you're charging.
Wonder what would happen if I wrapped my car in that stuff....Imagine the possiblities...

simpsonville: China's sweet 16 - 08/13/08 08:54 AM

I love the Olympics... These Olympics have been especially interesting because they are taking place in China, a communist country.  First we find that some of the fireworks during the opening ceremonies, were computer generated.  Then we find the cute little girl singing so beautifully was actually lip sinking - the real singer was seen as unfit because her teeth were not perfect...... Now there are major questions about the ages of the gold medal gymnast.  Several sources are saying that their passports are fake and half of them are under 14 - the legal age to participate is 16.

simpsonville: Two Blind Pilots - some mid week humor.... - 08/12/08 09:14 AM

Two blind pilots were both wearing dark glasses. One is using a guide dog and the other is tapping his way along the aisle with a cane.  Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit,   the door closes and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming.  The plane moves faster and faster down the runway and the people sitting in  the window seats realize they're headed straight for the water at the edge  of the airport. As … (9 comments)

simpsonville: New Schools in Simpsonville! - 08/11/08 12:09 PM
Bright, airy hallways and gleaming floors will greet parents and students to Rudolph Gordon Elementary School on Scuffletown Road in Simpsonville. Further southwest, Ralph Chandler Middle School, 4231 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, is set to open a state-of-the-art building that will help ease overcrowded Woodmont, Bryson and Hillcrest middle schools.
Rudolph Gordon will pull students from Bell's Crossing and Bryson elementary schools and though Principal Jackie Parker expected to operate at less than half the school's capacity this year, she said enrollment has already exceeded expectations.
"The projections that came out in late-February and early March were for about 360 (students)," … (1 comments)

simpsonville: Too great not to share - 08/10/08 12:27 PM
A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?' The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together.  Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father  always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad  let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes."  For those who didn't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three  endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim,  followed by a 112 mile (180.2 … (5 comments)

simpsonville: Picture of the day - Funny but True - 08/08/08 04:49 AM

DILLON, S.C. (AP) - A suspected thief trying to steal $10 worth of copper got himself into a stinky situation when he was trapped under a trash bin at a county landfill for 12 hours, sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies said Gibson Cook, 56, broke into the landfill, then got stuck as he tried to crawl under the large container. Landfill workers found him about 12 hours later with his legs sticking out from under the bin. Emergency workers had to inflate air bags so they could lift the bin to free him.
Cook was charged with trespassing and petty larceny, deputy … (14 comments)

simpsonville: Building on Listings - 08/07/08 02:06 AM
I love listings!
I landed 2 listings a few weeks ago and launched a pretty aggressive marketing plan for both.  I truly enjoy the marketing side of Real Estate and I believe my clients can sense my enthusiasm and appreciate it, too.  I make it a point to call them at least once a week and give them updates on everything I'm doing - I even tell them how many hits their property has gotten on Realtor.com.  These two listings have also provided me with 2 very good prospects for new buyers.  Both of these buyers found my listings on the … (9 comments)

simpsonville: 5 Things to do before you sell - 08/05/08 08:04 AM
Five Things To Do Before You Sell
Get estimates from a reliable repairperson on items that need to be replaced soon, a roof or worn carpeting, for example. In this way, buyers will have a better sense of how much these needed repairs will affect their costs. Have a termite inspection to prove to buyers that the property is not infested. Get a pre-sale home inspection so you'll be able to make repairs before buyers become concerned and cancel a contract. Gather together warranties and guarantees on the furnace, appliances, and other items that will remain with the house. Fill out … (1 comments)

simpsonville: Jack is Back!! - 08/03/08 12:57 PM

One of my favorite shows, 24, will be back on the air in January '09.  That seems eons away, but there will be some relief on November 23rd when 24 - Exile, the 2 hour movie will premier.  The movie will be the run up to the new season 7 and will fill us 24 fans on what Jack has been up to for the last year.
The new season will take place in Washington, DC instead of LA and will usher in the first woman President.  There will be some new faces including Jon Voight.

simpsonville: What is Grits? - 08/01/08 12:00 PM

I love grits! Never really new what they were until now!
What is Grits? Nobody knows.  Many people feel that grits are made from ground up bits of white corn.  This is obviously a lie.  Nothing as good as a Grits can be made from corn. The most recent research suggests that the mysterious Manna that God rained down upon the Israelites during their time in the Sinai Desert was most likely Grits. Critics disagree, stating that there is no record of butter, salt, or cheese raining down from the sky, and that God would not punish his people by … (17 comments)

simpsonville: The latest victim of Foreclosure..... - 07/31/08 06:48 AM

Meet Powder, the 44 pound kitty who apparently is the latest victim of a foreclosure.  He was found wandering the streets of Blackwood, NJ and turned into an animal shelter.  His owner later admitted abandoning him due to the foreclosure on her home.  The shelter is getting an average of 15 calls per hour to adopt him.  The world record for a tabby is 46 pounds, however it has been removed from the record in order to keep (lunatics) from overfeeding their cats to break the record.  The shelter claims Powder eats a "normal" diet.

simpsonville: International Buyers - 07/30/08 10:43 AM
According to newly released survey by NAR, International buyers are playing an increasingly important role in market share.  We here in Greenville can attest to that as we are host to several International corporations including BMW and an expanding GE.  Here is some of what  the survey had to say:
The survey found that a typical international buyer purchased a single family home for vacation purposes at $297,400 with mortgage financing, and stayed at his/her U.S. property for 2.6 months. At first glance, this seems rather similar to domestic buyers, but in fact international buyers are quite different from domestic buyers.

The Fountain Inn Farmers Market opened July 5 at the old train station depot, 102 Depot St., which the city plans to turn into the Fountain Inn History Museum and Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce.
The farmers market runs from 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays, and the city plans to retrofit an existing structure and add more stalls to make the market a permanent home in the city.
Fountain Inn signed a contract with DP3 Architects last week to design the Fountain Inn Commerce Park and Historical Center. The entire project could be put to bid in 90 days, said Eddie Case, city … (0 comments)
