On Tuesday night, Cobb County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the final design for the new multi-use bridge. The bridge will connect Cobb Galleria with the new Atlanta Braves SunTrust Park. The bridge will span I-285 and allow pedestrian and shuttle access to the new home of the Atlanta Braves. The bridge is estimated to cost about $10 million with majority of the funding coming from a $5 million contribution from the Cumberland Community Improvement District (CCID) and $4.5 million in federal grants. The Atlanta Braves certainly dropped a bombshell this week announcing plans to move to Cobb County with the development of a new stadium planned to be completed in time for the 2017 baseball season. The new location will be between Cobb Parkway and I-75 and Windy Ridge Parkway and Circle 75 in the Smyrna Vinings area.
