Be sure to attend the 30th annual Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour! Get a glimpse inside six private Marietta homes located in the Kennesaw Avenue district on December 3 – 4, 2016. Each home has been lovingly restored and will be decorated for the holiday season. The Marietta Visitors Bureau and Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society organize this tour, which has been featured in Southern Living and named a Top 100 Event in North America. The 7th Annual Marietta Mardi Gras 5K Run, a family event on the Marietta Square, will be on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Join the Junior League of Cobb – Marietta (JLCM) for their 7th year of run and fun and hopefully sun (remember year one?). We go, no matter the weather – rain, sleet, snow or sun (and we have had them all!) The proceeds of this event go towards various ongoing community projects of the JLCM. On Thanksgiving morning, more than 11,000 people will come to the Marietta Square to participate in the 11th Annual Gobble Jog, benefitting MUST Ministries. The Gobble Jog is the seventh largest Thanksgiving run in America and offers options for all skill levels. Participants come from all over the country to participate in the run with their families and to help MUST provide the basic needs of life to area residents who are struggling: food, housing, employment services and clothing. The city of Marietta’s Fourth in the Park celebration begins Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. and includes a parade, free live concerts, museum tours, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and fireworks finale. The Marietta Freedom Parade includes 110 entries, 2,000 participants and an estimated 30,000 spectators. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels west on Roswell Street, north on East Park Square past Glover Park and the Square, down Cherokee Street and ends at North Marietta Parkway.
