bend oregon: Bend Luxury Home Sales - 3rd Quarter 2024 Trends - 10/23/24 04:44 PM
Bend Luxury Home Inventory is Up For Bend buyers looking for their ideal luxury home, there was a significant increase in the number of homes for them to pick from in 3rd quarter 2024. When we look at Bend million dollar homes, the categories of homes for sale over $1,300,000 had anywhere from 45% to 89% more listings for buyers to consider. It appeared that more sellers were willing to list their property in 2024 than in 2023, perhaps tied in with lower mortgage interest rates experienced in this time period; the cost to sellers for their financed replacement home would be less with lower rates, often making … (4 comments)

bend oregon: Mortgage Rates Have Dropped for the Past 5 Weeks - 12/05/23 01:48 PM
Will Mortgage Rates Continue Their Downward Trajectory? For the past five weeks, mortgage interest rates have dropped, returning to figures that haven't been seen since August. Any relief from the high rates recently experienced is welcome. With each 1% reduction in mortgage rates, it roughly reduces the monthly mortgage payment by 10%. The chart below shows how purchasing power is impacted by mortgage rates.

Home Buyers Have More Options With Lower Interest Rates When potential home sellers have great mortgage interest rates, they hesitate to list, even when a different home may be a better option for them at this … (5 comments)

bend oregon: Bend Oregon's Pet Parade is a July 4th Tradition - 07/05/23 12:00 PM
Its hard to believe that after living in Bend Oregon since 1985, we finally attended our first 4th of July Pet Parade. This event has been a Bend tradition since 1924, only missing 1943 due to the Second World War and 2020-2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We arrived early for our seats at 9:00 am with the parade beginning at 10:00 am.  By the time the parade arrived, it is estimated there were well over 10,000 people either participating in the parade or watching it. The pets involved were mostly dogs, but we also saw rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, lizards, … (5 comments)

bend oregon: Green Lakes After a Month of Hazardous Smoke - 09/14/21 12:02 PM
After a month of terrible, hazardous air due to smoke from several forest fires settling in the Bend Oregon area, on Saturday, 9-11-21, Central Oregonians were thrilled to experience clean air as the bad air dissipated and the normal sparkling blue skies of September returned. We had planned on hiking Green Lakes on 9-11 as part of the series of scheduled hikes we had set up in April due to the newly implemented 2021 Wilderness permit system.  However, we were ready to cancel if the air quality was as it had been the Saturday before - extremely hazardous with limited visibility and health recommendations … (14 comments)

bend oregon: Travel the World from Brook's Ally in Bend Oregon - 12/09/20 02:27 PM
A Tantalizing Wine Experience in Downtown BendWe were very excited to be able to try out this new little wine shop, tucked away in downtown Bend. It has only been open for about 6 weeks (what a time to open!), and Dave has done an incredible job of putting together a diverse portfolio of varietals at reasonable prices.
We made a reservation for one of two outdoor dining tables to do the weekly signature flight. The seating was appropriately distanced, and each table came with its own heater; we hardly used our blankets we brought. This week’s selection was Gamay- a varietal … (6 comments)

bend oregon: Boxwood Kitchen in Bend's Old Mill District is Sure to Delight - 03/10/20 02:15 PM
Being the foodies we are, we really enjoy finding restaurants that are off the beaten path. One such restaurant we recently enjoyed was Boxwood Kitchen. Although located in the Old Mill District, this dining experience will not be found on the main road but rather was tucked in behind Naked Winery and Jimmy Johns.
We have visited Boxwood on several occasions since they opened their doors last year and their wonderful dishes have yet to disappoint. On our most recent visit we were able to enjoy an intimate setting with some close friends and really take the "Supperclub" name to … (5 comments)

Bend Oregon has become a beer hot spot for any hop connoisseur. With over 27 breweries to choose from, there seems to be a flavor and experience for any palate. Last week, we were able to have a fun and unique dining experience at one of our favorite brew stops, Cascade Lakes.
Founded in 1994, Cascade Lakes Brewing has its origins in Redmond, Oregon. Over 25 years later, the brewery has greatly expanded its brewing system and also has added "The Lodge,",our go-to weekend stop in Bend, Oregon on the way to Mt. Bachelor. On our … (7 comments)

bend oregon: Salute' Bend - New Italian Restaurant Downtown - 01/25/20 04:21 PM
New Italian Restaurant a Great Addition to Downtown Bend Being a restaurant owner in Bend is not easy. From tight food margins to difficult customers, building a new business to a place people talk about and come back to is no easy task. Bend's newest restaurant is on track to follow that challenging path. Salute' Bend is an Italian restaurant in Bend worth remembering.
This cozy restaurant is located in the old High Tides location, or more recently the old Citizen location on Bond in Downtown Bend across from Deschutes Brewery. This space has a strange hallway entrance that looks more like the beginning … (9 comments)

bend oregon: The Hike to Moraine Lake is the Road Less Traveled - 10/21/18 05:15 PM
Take the Detour Off the Green Lakes Trail to Find this Hidden Gem We have hiked the Green Lakes trail into the Three Sisters Wilderness many times over the years we have lived in Central Oregon. Located off the Cascade Lakes Highway, the hike to Green Lakes is among the most popular in the Cascades and is well worth the experience; we have blogged about this hike in the past -  see our Green Lakes Blog. Today, however, we took the path to the left at roughly 2 miles into the Green Lakes hike and walked another 1.5 miles to find Moraine Lake.
