~ Swim Through the Sky - Speechless Sunday ~

You can see much of Northern California from this amazing wine country view property.  Off the pool deck and straight ahead lies the San Francisco Bay.  Marin, Napa, and Solano Counties are displayed in a 360 degree panorama when you paddle your feet.  On a clear day, Mount Tamalpais, Mount Diablo, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains appear within reach.   This incredible property is a distressed wine country sale.  If you're curious and want more information, please contact me.  It's simply heavenly.

~ A Sensual & Intellectual Feast in Sonoma Wine Country ~

Sonoma Valley is a feast for the senses during the late summer and fall.  The natural beauty of our hills and vineyards, the aroma of crushed grapes in the air, and seemingly endless opportunities to wine and dine during September and October are sensual pleasures that draw thousands of visitors annually.

But there's more.  High-brow film buffs and everyday movie-lovers have yet another reason to travel here this time of year.  It's the Santa Rosa International Film Festival, a 7-day movie extravaganza, also known as the Wine … (6 comments)

Friday Fotos - A Cottage Garden in Kenwood, CA
One of the nicest things about being a wine country real estate agent is the variety of landscapes I get to see.  If you've read my blog with any regularity, you've probably noticed I post a lot pictures of Sonoma landscapes.  I think we live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.  The vineyards, open meadows, pristine hills---everywhere I turn it seems there is an abundance of natural beauty.  Recently I was on a tour of a sprawling Kenwood country property.  Tucked away behind the main house,  several outbuildings, … (12 comments)

A Better Year for Wine Country Real Estate Sales?
"2011 may be a better year than we expected in 2010,"  That's the word from Pacific Union Branch Manager Jill Silvas, who heads up our office in Sonoma Valley.  Jill analyzes quarterly MLS data for Wine Country real estate sales, with a focus on the upper end, properties selling at $1Million and up.  She says stabilizing prices, low interest rates, and a feeling that "the worst is behind us" are factors for optimism.  In Sonoma Valley, Q1 high end real estate sales lagged behind sales in Napa but Jill expects things to … (0 comments)

wine country: What Are Sonoma Real Estate Buyers Waiting For? - 05/04/10 07:43 PM
What Are Sonoma Real Estate Buyers Waiting For?
Sonoma real estate buyers have slim pickin's right now.  We currently have 210 active residential listings.  That's about 60% of the inventory we typically have this time of year---the "hot" spring selling season.  Of those listings, 16-17% are distressed sales.  These are properties that are either bank-owned or short sales.   Looking at the stats a different way---80-84% of properties listed are non-distressed.   Many of them are listed at the lowest prices for Sonoma real estate that we've seen in 7-8 years.
With all the headlines about bank-owned screaming deals, buyers seem to think they can scoop up real estate at bargain basement … (2 comments)

wine country: Sonoma Bakeries: Wine Country Treats --- Not Bottled, But Baked - 02/15/10 03:52 AM
Sonoma Bakeries Are Wine Country Treats --- Not Bottled, But Baked
Sonoma bakeries don't get the glory they deserve simply because they are less publicized wine country treats and not bottled, but baked.  I think it's time our bakeries in Sonoma get recognition, too.  Telling you about them is easy for me.  I've got a crazy-vicious sweet tooth so I know them all...far better than I should.
I'll start with Scandia, which most tourists miss but locals hold in high esteem.  The storefront in a strip mall on the west side of town is plain but Scandia's Princess Cake is anything but that.   It's an elegant dome … (2 comments)
