As we descended into town the morning of school, I soon realized the roiling clouds were covering the mountains and landscape around us and a thick fog had set in. The holidays have always been spent together. As a family. Always. When my oldest son was still a small child, he would open the blinds first thing in the morning, look at me and say, "It's a beautiful day mom!"
No matter the weather. It could be hailing, sleeting, raining, blowing or snowing and the results were always the same. I am thankful for his ability to lean toward the brighter side on a regular basis. To date this year, Coins for Kids has raised about $65,000 with the goal of raising twice that amount to purchase gifts for financially challenged families in the Southern Utah area. C'mon everyone! While wrapping gifts and clothes for financially disadvantaged children, a fellow wrapper came across the Wish List with names and ages tucked inside her bag. On it was a teen's biggest hopes for Christmas and instead of a skateboard or I-pod or X-box, he wished for a toothbrush and toothpaste.
