Nerdin Gardens: Dressed in Yellow         Miss Consuelo dressed in Yellow, Went to kiss a fine dressed Fellow. Mistakenly thinking it was the Prince, She clearly lacked any common Sense.   Because she also kissed a Snake, He pierced her skin when on a Date. Looking to brighten someone's day? Send flowers!

When trying to figure out a way to send out a Thinking of You message to someone who may need some cheer, take some photos of blooming flowers and send it to their smart phone or through their email.

In today's digital world it costs nothing but a few moments time and the results are ahhhh-mazing and so appreciated. And if you ask me how I know, these just showed up! Thank you My Honey for the flowers!

echinopsis cactus: Southern Utah's Beauty and the Beast! - 04/24/17 07:57 AM
Southern Utah's Beauty and the Beast!

The Echinopsis Cactus blossoms twice a year in colors of pink, orange, white and yellow. Their blooming beauty can be seen from a great distance due to the plate size flowers that are displayed.

These are meant to be admired from afar because of the long, razor-sharp barbs that can inflict pain even with the slightest touch. To the left, you are able to see the babies (the round furry balls on the top of the cactus) that will fall off and create multiple cacti for the coming season.

You can say that this succulent desert plant presents a true Beauty and the Beast scenario. Nature is truly ahhhh-mazing!

It's that time of year again in Southern Utah and the cacti are Blooming out their Buds! What a spectacular sight to behold, thanks to Mother Nature.  This variety of cactus blooms just twice a year and the flowers last only a day or so and I was lucky to catch a glimpse of the dinner plate size flowers!

The colors of the blooms come in pink, orange, white and yellow and as you can see, they are very vibrant. I was able to get a few shots of the white ones and a pink one. They're  Blooming out … (20 comments)

Does anyone have a simpler name for this variety of cacti?
This cactus blooms twice a year and the flowers last only a day or so. The only name I found was Echinopsis Cactus, does anyone know of a simpler name for this variety?
The colors of the blooms come in pink, orange, white and yellow and as you can see, they are very vibrant! I took some amazing shots of the white ones and am going back today to see if I can capture more of their blooming beauty before the flowers close up! They're everywhere here in southern Utah!
