effective communications: There's No Nutritional Value in a Word Salad. - 10/17/23 07:56 AM
There's No Nutritional Value in a Word Salad. Know-It-All's are accustomed to getting their way because most of their arguments become self-suited. They display superior behavior that belittles others by attempting to convince an audience about their vast, proclaimed knowledge.  They portray some of these traits:~ Expects excessive admiration from others~ Has a hyper-inflated sense of self-importance~ Displays arrogant behaviors and attitudes~ Lacks the ability to have empathy towards others~ Maintains a strong sense of entitlement The best thing to do is to avoid engaging, otherwise if targeted, the KIA will twist the words, create a barrage of critiques or a mountain of words that hold … (20 comments)

effective communications: Been blessed with a babbling mess lately? - 10/31/20 08:45 AM
Been blessed with a babbling mess lately?

Most recent sighting of Sharon and Ozzy at a Halloween Party

Words spoken must hit the intended target or can be considered misuse of dialog, becoming fillers for conversation sake. The true meaning often gets lost in the verbal volley.

Effective communication gains the respect of clients, business associates and further enhances relationships. Posturing clearly does the opposite. What is the point of virtually puffing out the chest while fluffing up a property with powdered sugary prose?

I accomplish client goals based on reliable driven data so an informed decision is made, not from listening to an ego-driven agent, lecturing on local market conditions.

effective communications: Clowns to the left of me... - 10/06/16 03:20 AM
Clowns to the left of me...

While creating a quick THANK YOU text to a buyer's agent for showing a listing I have on 1096 S Bentley Drive in Cedar City, UT 84720, I am very lucky to have re-checked the message before sending it off.

It read: "Thank you so much for showing and the feedback. The home is priced to sell so I expect an offer soon. I wish you the best in getting your clowns under contract." Compliments of auto-correct!

I quicked changed clowns to clients before pushing send. Whew!

effective communications: Just basically kind of…uh... - 10/22/15 01:28 AM
Just basically kind of...uh...

This is exactly how a one-car accident was described that occurred in the area. Did it really happen or did it almost, maybe, seemingly, somewhat transpire? Not sure, according to the person who reported the uh, so-called incident.

An audience expects and deserves clear, concise information rather than stumbling, bumbling verbal purging. The ability to hold a client's attention effectively is ultra-important to avoid simple misunderstandings as well.

Some advice that can help improve verbal skills:
Practice speaking in front of the mirror  Join a public speaking group like Toastmasters Before talking, think through what you intend to say
Or, uh...you could ummm...ah...lose the confidence of those uh, who have put … (8 comments)

effective communications: Beef, Pork or Children? - 11/06/12 10:04 PM
Beef, Pork or Children?

In a fast paced, harried world, we tend to rush through; not paying close enough attention to the task at hand and the message we may be sending out.

I remember when I began my first job out of college. Spelling was always a strong point as I was in numerous Spelling Bees through Elementary School. My first advertising piece was a Chinese Restaurant food menu. I was so excited and eager to please! I created it and then sent for final approval to the owner of the establishment. She signed off and 500 were printed and laminated and distributed. … (6 comments)
