motivational advice: Reality check. Please! - 12/30/22 09:00 AM
Reality check. Please!

Hey you! Wake up, stop dreaming! It's time to let go of that last brisk, up-market mentality. Gone are the days where everything sold quickly, over asking price with zero contingencies and multiple offers!

Price adjustments have saturated the Multiple Listing Service as sellers realize that demand has weaned. The property may sit with few feet through the door and less days on market depends on motivation!

Real estate agents are key to bringing buyers into the area when thinking of building. Fairly soon, premiums on build lots will become a thing of the past as well because consumers refuse to … (24 comments)

motivational advice: To do what is right. - 01/16/19 07:15 AM
The time is always right to do what is right. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

From the time of waking every morning, my mind readies for what is ahead, preparing for what the day will bring. Knowing that family relies on follow-through and clients are dependent on a successful end result adds to the purpose of getting up, dressing up and showing up.

The time is always right to do what is right. Apply this to everyday life, be kind, generous of heart and if you see a need, fill it.

motivational advice: Lou asks, "Will this matter a year from now?" - 02/13/18 07:28 AM
Lou asks, "Will this matter a year from now?"

Holding on, letting go. Deciphering between levels of business importance, personal priority, meaningful moments spent with family and friends that are meant to last beyond the test of time.

Lou Ludwig had a way with words, possessing the ability to grab and hold the attention while sending out motivational messages meant to impact the reader. He succeeded in the many years here.

One of his posts positively touched my life. I am learning that negative actions or behaviors by another is not meant to be held by myself, only by that one person. Though it may have affect.

Often, I ask myself..."Will this matter … (12 comments)

motivational advice: GROWTH, from a gardener's perspective. - 02/04/17 07:50 AM
GROWTH, from a gardener's perspective.

When recovering at home while sick, I went online quite a bit to gain outside news and information. The negativity and hate brought on by erroneous news reports and the media's maligning agenda was palpable, not to mention, the hate-filled responses and push back by people.

Good thing to see through the guise, some are unable. I was so happy to get well again and back to the office! Like-minded people tend to attract each other. Glad to know that I have the choice to align myself with upbeat, honest, sincere people. It is definitely good for growth!

motivational advice: Getting in the way? - 01/30/17 06:54 AM
Getting in the way?

When first taking a shot of this gorgeous southern Utah sunset, I thought the tree was in the way until changing the focus. I adjusted my stance, squatting to the ground, and then it became obvious that the tree is what makes this photo successful. A true standout!

Sometimes in life, when something impedes progress, change the point of view, look for options rather than accepting what is before you. The solution might just be one step or turn away.

Happy Monday to you all!

motivational advice: Don't like the plain red Starbucks cup? - 11/11/15 03:24 AM
Don't like the plain red Starbucks cup?

My advice is: Take action. Be prepared to step up and find a viable or sensible solution for yourself.

I did.

Armed with a black Sharpie marker, I ordered my coffee and drew a Christmas tree that included a shining star at the top.

Unless you are willing to act, complaints fall on deaf ears in a world filled with needless, useless static.

I will also be wishing a MERRY CHRISTMAS as often as possible once the Jolly Season gets closer. If you are offended, then take a number, get in line, you are not alone.

BTW: If something in your industry needs addressed, updated or changed, quit whining to the masses while hiding behind … (54 comments)

motivational advice: Make 'em LOOK! - 07/31/15 01:12 AM
Made 'em LOOK!

In order to get the consumer's attention, your message must immediately grab and take hold of the cerebral cortex region! It is not enough to show up and hope that someone will glance in your direction, you may lose out on the small window of opportunity to engage.

Actively and consistently market yourself, speak of your abilities and strong suits to direct traffic to Y-O-U by making them L-O-O-K! Otherwise, another agent whose message speaks louder or clearer will get business that you may have rightfully earned.

It is essential to set yourself apart from the competition, therefore:
Maintain consistency in all efforts Get up, dress up & show up on time Create a memorable … (18 comments)

motivational advice: Do the work and watch it grow! - 03/29/15 12:55 AM
Do the work and watch it grow!

Successful gardening requires carefully sowing seeds with care, nurturing tender plants, weeding to create room for flourishing and feeding them essential nutrients regularly to eventually put food on the table.

The same care is required for a successful living. Making phone calls, setting appointments, developing buyer or seller relationships, a sincere effort put forth. Attention to detail and constant contact helps a business thrive.

Consistency is key and soon you will reap the rewards of all your hard work. Maintain it every day and the less work required but ignore it even … (12 comments)

Be consistent Prove dependable Follow up and through Achieve the goals set forth Inspire your captive audience

motivational advice: Hang in there! - 02/09/15 12:15 AM
Hang in there!

For this banana, it's future may be determined by banana bread, banana shake, chocolate-covered bananas, banana pudding, banana cheesecake, pecan-banana pancakes, banana's flambe, banana split, toffee banana brownies, dried-sliced bananas, banana pound cake, banana-walnut muffins banana soup or a banana martini, the end result will be d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!

Your future however, is up to you, hang in there. Never let outside forces determine your success, even when a situation may seem dire. Put your whole self into play and think of ways to overcome and achieve the goals set forth. That way, if all fails, you gave … (21 comments)

motivational advice: FYI: There are only 4...3 Fridays left 'till Christmas! - 12/04/14 10:21 PM
FYI: There are only 4...3 Fridays left 'till Christmas!

The Holiday Season is filled with Christmas activities, parties and dinner events. Eating healthy can be difficult due to all the rich foods that are served, especially the sweet variety. Just remember, moderation in all things and that will be your guide through the buffet lines to the dessert table. If you have any doubts, eat the desserts first! (Desserts is stressed spelled backwards for those who may be wondering...!)
Dressing up and getting out and about, meeting new people and spreading the season's cheer can brighten anyone's spirits. I recommend it highly.

motivational advice: FYI: There are only 13 Fridays left 'till Christmas! - 09/26/14 04:48 AM
FYI: There are only 13 Fridays left 'till Christmas!

Family holiday photos create lasting memories to be cherished. Be sure to pre-schedule a photo session with a professional photographer or tell your own story with digital photographs of holiday gatherings with family and friends. There are many one-hour photo stores who can print them quickly and you can create mini-photo albums and give them out as gifts to create smiles all around.
It is never too soon to start thinking of the year ahead and how you plan to continue doing business in the New Year. Of course, continue to follow up and … (13 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Finish or just show up? You decide! - 03/12/12 12:54 AM
Motivational Monday: Finish or just show up? You decide!

How many times have you shown up at a race, cheered for your favorite team only to see them fall to the sidelines awaiting a tow truck to see them to their final destination of the day?

To the garage.

Or worse, a junk yard.

There are factors to consider to get to the finish line and they are:
Setting Goals Being realistic Focusing on the end result
Without purpose, you are just wandering in circles, not knowing the outcome but just hoping to get some good results.  Not a secure way to go. Create a marketing … (14 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Be like an elephant! - 07/25/11 07:03 AM
Motivational Monday: Be like an elephant!
When an elephant’s trunk is lifted, it signifies good luck, optimism and prosperity. So be like an elephant and hold your head up, alert to your surroundings.
When you practice this, you look:
Poised Positive Confident Self-assured Approachable Elephants are amazing creatures and are much respected by their peers. So be like an elephant, hold your head up but also smile and use eye contact.
People will remember the big impression you will leave with them by using these steps. And as Max L. Forman once said: Always hold your head up, but be careful to … (20 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Hit a Home Run despite inaccurate information on the web! - 07/11/11 01:46 AM

Motivational Monday: Hit a Home Run despite inaccurate information on the web!

I received a phone call regarding a listing that I had and the interested party wanted to know if they could view the home. I told him that home SOLD more than 3 months ago!

Strike one!
BUT...He then asked about another property and that one was showing Pending on the MLS but not on the website he was searching.

O.K. Two Strikes!
Despite the irregularity of up-to-the-minute real estate information floating out there on who-knows-how-many-sites, I continued to engage him in conversation rather than saying no and hanging up.

I asked him if … (17 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Can or Can't? You're right! - 05/16/11 01:34 AM

Motivational Monday: Can or Can't? You're right!
Being successful comes from possessing a true belief in the direction you have chosen. A desire that spans every waking moment, a straight-on drive toward achieving set goals, whether long-term or short-term. It takes focus and:
Overcoming negative influences Focusing in a positive direction Formulating a cohesive plan Challenging yourself to move ahead Confronting fears early on that may hold you back If you think you can or can't, you're right! Do I think I can fail? It's possible.
Do I believe it? Heck no because I think I Can!
How about you? … (26 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Onward and Upward with purpose I go! - 04/25/11 01:50 AM

Motivational Monday: Onward and Upward with purpose I go!

Moving Onward and Upward with purpose is what I do even when it gets tough! And believe me, it has been a most difficult road at times. When 3 transactions fall out in the same day, you must have enough tenacity and perseverance to make those phone calls and actively market them to other agents and the public to get them SOLD!

Failing is not an option when:
Your family depends on the income to maintain a healthy household Clients counts on you to get to the end of the transaction with a successful outcomeThe brokerage … (24 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: Do the Doable! - 04/04/11 01:35 AM
Motivational Monday: Do the Doable!

do·a·ble (doo-uh-bull) adj. Possible to do: capable of being done; practical.

I answered the phone Sunday morning and a lovely gentleman informed me he is looking to purchase a house in southern Utah. Had I ignored the incoming call, he may have quickly moved on. I made myself available and may reap the rewards of a positive outcome.

Do the Doable:
Be Accountable for your business results. Doable. Turn problems into Possible solutions. Doable. Create Attainable short-term and long term goals. Doable. Surround yourself with Capable, positive people. Doable. Make yourself Available to clients and potential business. Doable.
The first quarter … (56 comments)

motivational advice: Motivational Monday: A horse's petute! - 02/28/11 12:55 AM

Motivational Monday: A horse's petute!

The definition of a horse's petute means being foolish, not to mention a horses behind is designed to expel only and does not retain nor welcome input.

So my advice is: Don't become one.
Take good advice when necessary. Be of help when you clearly see the need. Grow yourself through education and experience. Appreciate the many gifts that are given everyday. Always be willing to look outside your comfort zone to new possibilities.
By constantly reaching for newer and better ideas to move your business forward, you will find yourself positively influencing those around you. And people value a forward thinking individual who … (53 comments)
