motivational goal setting: Rise to the top! - 04/10/16 11:19 PM
Rise to the top!

Growth comes when stretched beyond reasonable limits. Remaining genuine is a gift given to ourselves and others. Sloughing off the small, niggling minutiae allows movement with a clearer direction.

Up!

As business people we must be respectful of peers, fellow agents and clients. When others cross the line of professionalism, let it be them. It's not worth risking all the hard work that has been done prior to getting here.
Instead:
Stay positively optimistic & upbeat Surround yourself with motivated people Steer clear of negative discussions by others
Like-minded people tend to travel in the same circles and I'd rather happily be moving upward with positivity and … (3 comments)

Last year I wrote several FYI posts about the Fridays before Christmas. Complete with some holiday decorating tips and cooking ideas, also a little motivational advice for the coming New Year.
It is never too soon to start thinking of the year ahead and how you plan to continue doing business in the New Year. Of course, continue to follow up and follow through to accomplish your set goals!

Just in case you are interested or missed them:

Motivational Monday: Finish or just show up? You decide!

How many times have you shown up at a race, cheered for your favorite team only to see them fall to the sidelines awaiting a tow truck to see them to their final destination of the day?

To the garage.

Or worse, a junk yard.

There are factors to consider to get to the finish line and they are:
Setting Goals Being realistic Focusing on the end result
Without purpose, you are just wandering in circles, not knowing the outcome but just hoping to get some good results.  Not a secure way to go. Create a marketing … (14 comments)

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: Are you doing your best to achieve your goals? - 05/23/11 01:30 AM

Are you doing your best to achieve your goals?
This Century Plant is and will expect no less of itself.
Set those goals and reach and reach and reach, the sky's the limit! There is much we can learn about accomplishment by observing nature.
...........................................
The flowering of the Century Plant's main stem is an amazing event and quickly shoots up seemingly overnight with big yellow flowers, reaching heights up to and over 25 feet. The Century Plant is an agave or succulent originally from Mexico but also exists nationwide in warmer, drier climates including the St. George, Utah area.
It has a series … (16 comments)

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: “You don’t know what you will end up doing in your lifetime.” - 04/18/11 01:45 AM

Motivational Monday: “You don’t know what you will end up doing in your lifetime.”
Do you ever question the WHY of getting up and going to work every morning?
I have in the past. I remember waking and lying in bed thinking of reasons NOT TO GO due to:
An overbearing, arrogant boss Unrealistic expectations placed upon shoulders Nepotism that was rampant throughout the company Then one day, someone asked me if I was a REALTOR®, I answered no. But that one question remains the turning point that drove me to begin a new career in the real estate industry.
I haven’t turned … (23 comments)

motivational goal setting: Thankful Thursdays: An early Spring...in my step that is! - 02/03/11 04:10 AM
Thankful Thursdays: An early Spring...in my step that is!
The energy in our office is at an all-time high due to:
More traffic More phone calls More property showings More offers to purchase More listing opportunities Despite the national news of gloom and doom, I will say once again that all real estate is local and refuse to listen to the naysayers! In two weeks we have had several accepted offers, gained 2 listings and working to put 2 more listings together. We both have buyers coming to town to purchase in the next several weeks. This has been an exciting 2011 so far with many goals accomplished!
My real estate … (23 comments)

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: Don't have this. And don't have that?! - 12/27/10 02:09 AM

Motivational Monday: Don't have this. And don't have that?!
Focus on what you do have. Not on what you never had. Being negative leads to discontentment, often resulting in the ‘blame game', therefore avoiding true ownership to those feelings. Frame of mind plays a key part in being successful and when you think positively you may yield measurable results.
 Focus on:
Achieving not Failing Progression not Regression Positivity not Negativity Optimism not Pessimism The Future not the Past I agree it is difficult to maintain momentum when faced with setbacks and moving forward takes tenacity and perseverance. Learn from it … (23 comments)

Motivational Monday: Reaching yet?
As we end this amazing year of 2010, are you reaching for next year? Do you have a business plan ready to go? It's never too late to get moving in that direction, ready-or-not!
Decide on the goals you wish to achieve Visualize achieving those set goals Setbacks may occur, keep trying! Get an accountable partner, it helps! Adjust goals if necessary to be productive And have FUN! A happy and prosperous 2011 is UP TO YOU! And everyone now... reach...and reach...and reach, the sky's the limit...or beyond if you choose!

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: From To-Do's to Ta-Da's! - 09/27/10 06:23 AM
Motivational Monday: From To-Do's to Ta-Da's!
Feeling scattered or out-of-sorts? STOP! Take a break and FOCUS. Think about what you want to accomplish in a day, month or even in a year.
Then set out To-Do just that!
Make that To-Do list Call your past clients Phone family members Become a networker Plan your entire week Then plan your month Next, plan your whole year Put the To-Do list where you are able to see it plenty of times during the day to reinforce the possibilities of making those changes. Taking the initiative to make a positive difference in your daily life, will … (12 comments)

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: Go around it, over it, above it or through it. - 09/13/10 02:01 AM
Motivational Monday: Go around it, over it, above it or through it.  Whatever it takes to get to the next level and accomplish your goals.
Too often life gets in the way and we succumb to routine daily habits that that carry us from one day into the next, never growing or improving ourselves.
So as we head into a new week, ask yourself...
What can I do to improve my life situation and then:
Talk to a mentor Consult with a friend Ask for guidance from peers Take a motivational seminar Sign up for a self-improvement course Whatever method you choose … (21 comments)

To WIN...You gotta have the DRIVE
Do you have IT?
Do you wake up motivated, excited to get out the door in the mornings to arrive at work? It's more than just getting up, dressing up and showing up!
It requires:
Desire Diligence Strategy Planning Endurance Commitment There are very few lucky breaks in real estate. Successful agents work smart, consistently improving their sales tactics and performance by:

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: Extremely Satisfied Clients! - 03/22/10 10:11 AM
Recently Mary Yonkers asked the question:  How Would You Sum Up Real Estate Success in Three Words?
I answered without hesitation...Extremely Satisfied Clients and this letter I received in my inbox today proves my point! I love what I do and often go above and beyond what some people may consider their jobs.
I was just asked last week why I was successful and my answer is YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS and EXCEED THEIR EXPECTATIONS. You can always provide satisfactory results, but why do that when you can WOW! them?
Lee and I take our client services to a higher standard and it truly shows! … (26 comments)

motivational goal setting: Motivational Monday: Coming or Going? Still looking for direction? - 01/24/10 11:58 PM
We are now almost a month into the New Year, resolutions have come and gone and you lack direction because you still haven't written that dratted Business Plan in order to gage your success for the year.
Do you feel that you are both coming AND going at the same time?
What to do?!
Which way to go?!
Here are some tips to help:
Put your thoughts on paper, you can organize it later Talk with your broker about realistic goal setting Find an accountability partner to help meet your goals Find a book (that inspires you & read it!) on goal-setting … (25 comments)

motivational goal setting: You either make the commitment by Jumping In! or you don't. - 01/03/10 04:26 AM

Everyone knows that a cat doesn't like to get its paws wet, so it will LEAP great distances to avoid water in order to get to their intended destination. Real estate is not an industry for testing the waters. You either make the commitment by Jumping In! or you don't.

Mary Yonker's post http://activerain.com/blogsview/1407685/real-estate-career-part-time-vs-full-time-inspired me to write this post. (Thank you Mary.) She discussed training, time commitments, schedules, family support and I must agree that in order to become a successful real estate agent, you must make a full time commitment.

I started out part-time but soon followed these steps:
Set a date to go full-time Put several … (68 comments)

motivational goal setting: There's no TIME like NOW To Put Your 2010 Goals To Work! - 01/01/10 02:28 AM
Did you plan to spend New Year's Day with your family or did you picture a day of post-holiday shopping?
...Or did you receive a phone from a potential buyer who is interested in a couple of your listings, wanting you to show them today?
...And they are not represented by an agent?
...And they are very interested?
Well...As soon as I finish posting this, I'm putting the power of positive thinking to work and I'm off and running to write my first contract of the year!
It's time to put my 2010 goals to work, NOW!

motivational goal setting: 10 Ways To Be Successful in 2010...It's UP TO YOU! - 12/28/09 01:36 AM

Successful real estate transactions are an exciting and viable part of business. A homeowner sells their property and a homebuyer purchases the home they want at a good price and we, as residential real estate professionals, are rewarded for our efforts.
The following are some guidelines for goal-setting that have helped me in the past and will continue to be my guide for the coming New Year as well.
Set realistic goals that are reachable...it's okay to go high as long as they're attainable! Put your list of goals in a highly visible location you will see it several times a day … (45 comments)
