Thrive or Die on the Vine? It's a Choice.

When building a business model, seeds are planted, many that blossom into a fresh crop of opportunities every single year. With consistent implementation and follow through, success becomes the desired end result.

Seasoned real estate professionals remain when they:
Apply tried and true methods and processes. Granted, after first getting my real estate license, I was taken in by a few high-pressure sales schemes with promises of an amazing Return of Income. They fell short, so I threw away money to learn a valuable lesson.

Nerdin Gardens: Real Estate Social Media Plant

Being in the industry for many seasons allows me to observe tried and true methods. Others offer bright & shiny schemes, designed to gain immediate attention, relieving agents of money.

Here are some things that have worked for me:
An effective on-line presence is at the top. Web sites such as ActiveRain, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn can enhance business when used properly.
Avoid ranting and angrily raging on-line. And old saying, “Do not say anything that you wouldn’t want your mother, grandmother or children(if applies) to read.”
Create a realistic budget on how much you can afford to spend. … (12 comments)

Vacant Condo for Sale - Multiple Offers Expected!

Southern Utah is experiencing an all-time low in available listings. Residential properties that are priced well, in great condition and located in desirable areas go quickly. This one is no exception!

At first, we were hesitant to put this special property on the market for sentimental reasons but decided it was for the best. Besides, it's smart to take advantage of an up-market like everyone else!

What I love about this ranch-style home:
The exterior is alluring, captivating, striking, bright green and white detailing. Though a family of swine lived here previously, the interior is pristine, refreshing, must-see, breathtaking, a one-of-a-kind.

Nerdin Gardens: They Arose to the Occasion

Nature performs in the best of circumstances and the worst of environments, taking advantage of whatever presents. I have witnessed a flower growing out of a crack in a sidewalk and was amazed!

Some flowers are still flourishing in Nerdin Gardens from mums, to snapdragons to many varieties of roses, dotting the landscape in the front and back yard in bright colors, though it's late in the year.

Vivid colored roses sitting pretty in a petite pink vase.

The instinct to thrive, at times, comes easy in natural settings. You might say they have arose to the occasion!

Nerdin Gardens: Nature's High Desert Flowers

It's almost December and the front and back yard are still boasting pops of awe-inspiring color from the slightest to brightest of tones. Am excited to take a perimeter walk daily to capture their beauty.

Like nature, I am working extremely hard to finish up the year strong. Am blessed to work in an industry that continues to gives back, especially for those with a strong work ethic, follow up and follow through.

Thanksgiving 2021: My Heart Resides at Home

Maintaining a stable home environment is the best thing we can give to ourselves and family. We have done exactly that and consider ourselves lucky to live where we do. Happy to take my shoes off at the end of the day and relax, putting work aside until the following day, to be present.

Growing up in a military family meant packing everything up and moving every couple of years, transferring to new school, making new friends. I vowed that when starting a family that we would remain in one place with no plans to relocate. … (14 comments)

Thanksgiving 2021: Grateful for Nerdin Gardens

Nature inspires almost daily and that can be utilized in growing methods and actions in the back yard garden. A season's worth of hard work pays off in an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Overall gardening success is much more involved than just showing up. It requires a sincere willingness to do the work, to troubleshoot when necessary and move quickly to adjust systems or do repairs.

These things are necessary as well:
Soil preparation Daily nurturing Constant care Follow through Reliable methods
The produce and fruit list varies somewhat each year to yield the best results. From crook … (20 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Here's looking at ya!

Now that we are well into fall, many plants are nearing the end of their growing cycles. Where vivid greens and vibrant blooms once dominated, tans, yellows and browns are now in fashion.

Cooler temperatures, along with shorter days determine the work day for many still foraging for daily food quotas. Early risers often net better results when meeting the day, rather than chasing time.

Those serious make a show by getting up, dressing up and making an appearance. The desire to achieve set goals dwells in most beings. The instinct to survive, for others, can be a … (14 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: 10 Great Reasons to S-M-I-L-E!

Yesterday, I harvested the Meyer lemons off our tree after several weeks of diligently and patiently waiting for that deep yellow color, reminiscent of nature-ripened goodness to appear on their skins.

These lemons are less tart. I cut one in sections and ate each piece slowly, savoring the flavor. It is the sweetest lemon I have ever tasted! With the rest, I just may make several glasses of fresh lemonade.

Meyer lemon trees have shiny, dark green leaves, are self-pollinators, producing fragrant white buds with a pink base. They require at least 6 hours of sunlight per … (25 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Gardening with Grandpa

As children, our grandpa insisted we help him in the family garden. We all excitedly agreed. I realized pretty quick the difference between a potato plant and a weed. He was a steadfast but patient teacher.

Row upon row of raised mounds and plantings, the trenches ran alongside. He would open the irrigation gate and water rushed quickly from starting to finish point, giving the earth a proper dousing.

Knowing when to plant, how to thin the plants to prevent crowding for proper growth, the right amount of  water that was necessary and also the exact time to pick for … (24 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Digging up Bones

Some people live in the past, refusing to move forward for many reasons. They know some things are meant to be left alone but still resurrect those memories of a time once done and long gone.

A gardeners work is never finished and while we dig into the nutrient rich soil, we live for today and plan future crops. Mistakes are taken into account and new processes implemented to ensure success.

We refuse to dwell on what could have, should have or would have been. This week, all plant material with be removed and the raised beds covered until … (24 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: M-I-C-K-E-Y M-A-T-E-R!

Did you sing M-I-C-K-E-Y M-A-T-E-R? I did!

As the last of the fruits and vegetables are harvested from the back yard garden, I noticed a phenomenon that happens occasionally with nature. We had a trifecta tomato, three orbs formed together on one vine.

I was delighted that it looked similar to Mickey Mouse's head and ears and quickly took a photo while singing...

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-A-T-E-R...Mickey Mater!

Happy gardening all.

Nerdin Gardens: Sincere Gifts Shared

As my husband, Michael was putting the finishing touches on a fresh basket for some friends, I was amazed how the natural beauty of the colors, shapes and sizes harmonized. It was a work of art!

All fruits and vegetables were produced in our back yard garden, from the Roma tomatoes, midnight snack and super sweet cherry tomatoes, early girl tomatoes, lemon cucumbers, burpless-skinless cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, zucchini and yellow squash to the green and red bell peppers, banana peppers, jalapeños, poblanos, grapes and muscadines.

We are both thankful and grateful for nature's gifts that are bestowed upon us … (16 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Ripe for the Picking
Harvesting maters one by one,
in the early morning sun.
People benefit far and wide,
from vines lifted up so high.
Gathering gifts at the tippy top
as they gently sway, non-stop.
Juicy red orbs perched in a row,
soon they will be on the go!

Am thankful from my head tomatoes!

Industry tie-in:
Knowing when produce is ready to pick is crucial, just as understanding a potential client's timeline to hire professional services. Too soon yields less than optimum results and too late means a lost opportunity!

Nerdin Gardens: Going to Ground

There are at least 20,000 varieties of bees worldwide. Among them are the Ground Nesting Bees that make their home by burrowing into the soil. They are fastidious diggers and often single dwellers.

They play a huge role in pollinating crops, wild flowers, and fruit and I have a deep appreciation for their diligent hard work. Unlike honey bees, the queens live individually, raising their own young.

The conical entrances to the nests are in patches of bare soil, preferring to live in sandy soils on south facing slopes. They do not form hives, but a large number of … (23 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Sowing the Seeds of Success!

Gardening is much more than just digging holes, planting and watering. The smells, sounds and sights are compliments of nature. The gifts bestowed upon us year after year are appreciated and respected.

As I stroll through the grounds, I am met with honey bees that are still foraging for food that will take them through the colder months. They hibernate inside their hive until spring makes a showing once again.

We will be picking lemon cucumbers for ready eating, ripe green peppers, perfect vessels to fill with Philly Cheesesteak ingredients for now and to be frozen for … (19 comments)

Feeling 12 Foot Tall in Nerdin Gardens!
Tomato plants are vines that climb and often become entangled. My husband thought to use landscape posts and green tape to trellis each one as new growth appeared to make them easier to harvest. Priceless!
From past experience, these 5 reasons are why we back yard garden:
1. Fresh food to eat.
From garden bed to dinner table as quick as that! There is nothing better than available fruits and vegetables, daily. A pinch here, snip or pull and twist there and you have a side dish ready to eat within a few steps.

2. Better overall nutrition.
Fruits and vegetable … (18 comments)

Trasil held a nasal appraisal with the basil in the back yard garden.
The plant suddenly pitched, he was ditched, and for him, it was fatal!

nerdin gardens 2021: A reason. A season. Or life. - 08/05/21 06:24 PM
A reason. A season. Or life.   As the car pulls from the curb, seven+ years of memories invade my mind, tugging at the heart in an effort to extricate them from the extreme grief.   Today, little Rugerman, his mom, sister and brother will be driving to Iowa, their next place of residence.   Again, I say goodbye with a heaviness that might lighten upon his return. In the meantime, the soul well has become empty, in dire need of full-filling.   They say that people come into your life for a reason, a season or life. It is up … (13 comments)

Nerdin Gardens: Edible Art

When picking a day's harvest in our back yard garden, the imagination is sparked by nature's shapes, sizes and colors. Many times, images emerge from the result.

The level of whimsicality depends on mood and mindset!

On this day, I was feeling a little spicy and homemade salsa came to mind as I created this edible arrangement.

Walking the garden while harvesting 6 varieties of tomatoes, I realized at that moment that All Maters Matter!

Spending time in the garden is relaxing and quite often brings about a joyous imagination. This one is called Crazy Veggie Lady!
