observances and celebrations: Why is everyone so tired on April 1st? - 04/01/23 08:55 AM
Why is everyone so tired on April 1st?

Because they just finished a 31-day March!

April Fool's jokes are meant to bring a smile to people's faces. I have seen many pranks through the years and have participated in a few as well! Today is also my dad John's birthday. He is my hero, raising us by marrying a woman with 7 children, a Vietnam Veteran and all around wonderful human. I sent him a box of surprises and will call him soon to wish him a Happy Birthday!

So, as you go about the day, have fun and enjoy every minute.

observances and celebrations: Do you suffer from Triskaidekaphobia? - 05/13/22 07:11 AM
Do you suffer from Triskaidekaphobia?

My mom was very superstitious. She often told the story of seeing a black cat walk right through a fence on Friday the 13th, many years ago and warned us about passing under a ladder, it would cause 'bad luck'.

As gullible children, we were stuck to the spot, eyes wide open with baited interest when she regaled us with spooky stories of the past! Back then it was terrifying but as an adult, the stories lost their weighty impact.

Getting Back to That Happy Pace!

The holidays were especially hectic, with family members in town, dinner plans and festive celebrations. I still checked emails, returned messages and answered the phone without taking time away from them.

Those of us in the industry know that our profession never does take a break, that clients are determined to realize their goals any day of the year. When there is a property to view, we can make it happen!

Lost your happy pace? Find it and proceed ahead!

A great man once said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today we celebrate the life and times of that man, Martin Luther King Jr., a person born of undying faith and a resilient belief that everyone is created equal.

He often spoke of devotion to our fellow neighbors, of respect for human life and a sincere commitment on our parts to make this world a better place for all.

He proceeded from that first step, not knowing where it would … (8 comments)

observances and celebrations: You can't please all the people all of the time... - 02/21/11 02:17 AM
You can't please all the people all of the time...
As we celebrate President's Day today we should be thankful for those individuals who have placed themselves in leadership positions in order to better our country.
Decisions made may not be the people's popular choice but you can't please all the people all of the time. As Americans, we can agree that past outcomes have definitely left its mark on how we live today, free to make our own decisions in a democratic society.
So, President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln, I simply say thank you, thank you for your … (16 comments)

3 Men and a Lady. A Special Valentine Day Story.
I am a judge in Anna Banana's ValentineTude contest so am not eligible to win but wanted to share a special LOVE story as well!
Pulling into the drive after another long day of work, I was greeted at the front door by a handsome little 4 year-old waiter in a bowtie, hair slicked back with a white tee-towel draped over his arm, "Good evening madam!" he says. He took my arm, leading me down the rose petal littered hallway to the dining table aglow with candlelight, the table set with my grandmother's … (24 comments)

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.  ~Martin Luther King, Jr

When there is hate in the heart, it is impossible to see through it to truly enjoy the many gifts that are freely given.
A sunrise A sunset Another day A child's laugh A lover's touch A second chance Unconditional love Martin Luther King Jr. was a visionary who spoke of love, overcoming hate and wished for a united nation. I am so wrapped up in YOU!
I just read on Facebook that Coins for Kids volunteers finished wrapping all the gifts for more than 2,000 children by noon today! Hooray to everyone who helped make this charity event a success, not just this year but every year!
I usually meet my good friend Holly and we wrap gifts for several hours, catching up with each others lives but due to a schedule conflict she was unable to help today. I went in early, chose a table and began wrapping gifts for 2 small children, getting into the rhythm of cutting, taping and … (14 comments)

observances and celebrations: Thankful Thursday: Honor a Vet and Give Thanks - 11/11/10 01:00 AM
Vets should be honored every day for the sacrifices they have made for our country in my opinion. And believe me, some have given plenty to make sure that we have our rights and privileges and freedoms! Today, Thank a Vet, they'll appreciate the gesture!

It's Columbus Day, why didn't I know THAT?!
I awoke this morning, showered, got dressed, roused the boys, fed them and out the door we go to get them to school, all the while knowing that I had an important Monday morning meeting to attend. The Dixie Sunshiner's meet every Monday morning to discuss the week's agenda and to recap the past week's activities.
Of course, being the astute member to attend such meetings, arrived early in time to see someone jump into the industrial dumpster in the parking lot. I kept trying to get a photo of his head popping up, it reminded me … (27 comments)
