A Modern Day Mensch
 
Integrity, honor and transparency plays a huge role in business success. The amount of effort put towards a list of priorities is often proportional to the return one receives.
 
Successful relationships, whether personal or professional, depend on reciprocation and are about making people feel valued while treating them with utmost respect and care.
 
Every day upon waking, the decision is made to do something nice for someone and perhaps make a positive difference in their day. So far, so good, I have achieved that.

Reciprocation in business makes all the difference in trusted relationships. We all have our to-go-to people, long referral connections and raving fans, thankfully. It is important to show gratitude to those who continue to make a positive contribution. 
 
It need not be extravagant and can be as easy as a phone call, a scheduled lunch or sending out a Thinking of You card. One of the best things to do is a face-to-face, all encompassing, sincere HUG to your Sphere of Influence. It can mean everything.
 
I gladly give out and accept HUGS! And like the ad says above...

Reciprocity comes in all forms in this industry. When I discovered my husband's cousin was planning to purchase a home in the Washington state area, I phoned clients who will be listing their home there and moving here in a week.
 
After a short discussion, I quickly called the listing agent on their home and put her in touch with the cousin.  The home resides 5 miles away from where she was looking to relocate and it just may fit her search criteria!

Reciprocity. Is THAT convenient?
A seasoned real estate agent spoke of giving at a charity event but also of the power of asking. She takes business cards everywhere she goes and when she gives someone money for a purchase or service, a card goes with it.
 
"Isn't THAT convenient?!" 
 
Inspired, I began a conversation with an affiliate in which we discussed business strategies including plans on network building; business to business, referral based. I'd refer her services and she, mine. She said, "I never thought of doing THAT!" And I thought to myself...

You gotta give to get and in our industry, this especially rings true. Reciprocity guarantees success to all involved parties and gains successful outcomes.
Sitting in a networking meeting last week, a fellow member stated there was a lady who had been in town for a week from Vermont looking for a home to buy.
I asked, "Did you give her my name?"
He replied, "No."
After the meeting I handed him several cards and he agreed to refer me in the future.

GOT SOMETHING for ME?
As I sat in my office, a marketer stopped by and asked if I had anything for HIM? I responded, "Well, that depends if you have something for ME." He didn't. The visit was a short one.
Reciprocity goes a long way in creating trust between participants.
Do business with the people who value what you present to them. If someone is not willing to refer business, then find people who will. The results are a WIN-WIN for all involved and can result in lifelong business relationships.
