Shore Wish I Could Catch a Prize!
A day trip to a local southern Utah lake or reservoir to cast a line and catch some fish is so satisfying. Calm, smooth as glass water, lapping gently along the bank, anchored boats afloat, anticipating hauling in a limit.
The giggles and excited cries of children when catching fish, no matter the size, brings back memories and is still thrilling to hear. We will now teach the next generation of fishing enthusiasts, our grandchildren.

As a nice way to wrap up summer, today is a great opportunity to celebrate all hard-working Americans. Take some time to relax, after all you've earned it! Whether it is catching up on reading, fishing, spending time in the garden, taking a leisurely walk or road trip, biking a favorite canyon or driving a golf ball down the fairway at a local golf course. Whatever you decide is right for you.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life...
The fishing season may be over for us but the days spent casting, baiting and catching are well remembered. So as we prepare for Winter's arrival, we will also be thinking ahead to Spring and of future visits to our favorite fishing spot. Ahhh! The memories will carry me over 'till then...maybe.

While fishing off the bank at Panguitch Lake we encountered a chipmunk looking for companionship food. He befriended my husband and shook his hand took food from his hand. He was as as happy as a sea gull with a french fry chipmunk with a potato chip. He had more than a few!
He really s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d himself to see what kind of nutritional items goodies we had to offer and at one point had his head in the treat bag. It was sad to see him go, it was quite entertaining to watch him maneuver through the rocks … (14 comments)

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Went fishing and caught a few special moments.
Sunny rays, water lapping at my tootsies on the shoreline, excited cries of joy as children reeled in their catches. A spur-of-the-moment day fishing trip to Panguitch Lake, one of our favorite fishing spots, yielded the satisfying feeling of a day spent without phone service, deadlines or rushing around.
No rainbows today by sea or sky, just a few nibbles but oh, what a day! A relaxing time shared with my sweetheart and a few special moments captured!
Enjoy this beautiful day before us and why not? It will last at least that long.

35% rain quickly turned into 100% as we came over the rise just before Panquitch Lake. A light sprinkle did nothing to deter us from setting up our spot on the beach. Sitting inside the truck during a downpour or two until we realized there was rain gear in the toolbox. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it must be a duck...oh, wait, that's me in a bright neon yellow slicker with hood and matching pants! Ha!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Tiger Trout Alert!
Prior to catching this beauty at Panguitch Lake, I had only seen a Tiger Trout in photos which did this exceptional species no justice. The swirling gold and brown colors, unusual pattern design and rich sheen was a mystical sight as I reeled it in. Unbelievable! It measured 19 inches; just 3 inches shy of becoming a keeper and a fine meal!
I caught a healthy 5 pound Cut Throat Trout that measured 20 inches and set it quickly back into the lake to live another day along with 4 others. My husband was … (21 comments)

Fishing season is just a pole cast away now that temperatures are warmer and the days are longer! Washington County, Utah has some amazing fishing areas that are great for day fishing or weekend camping trips.
From brown trout to rainbow or big mouth bass; whatever your angling preference, the local lakes and streams are teeming with fresh water fish. Speechless Sunday (almost!): Preferred weekend destination!
Along with warmer Spring temperatures, my thoughts turn to a favorite pastime of camping and fishing with family and friends. I see a trip to Panguitch Lake or Otter Creek Reservoir in the near future, on the water, anchoring down, casting our lines and enjoying what the day brings.
This is what time well spent is all about!

We woke at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning to finish packing the boat with supplies before heading out for a 1 ½ hour trip to Panguitch Lake, Utah. As the excitement for the day fishing trip grew, so did the wind and when we finally go onto the lake, it was blowing pretty good.
We found a spot and anchored down getting our poles into the water and the water became as smooth as glass. Ahhh! This is what fishing is all about!

It's fishing season again here in southern Utah and we are anticipating our first trip of the year, perhaps it will be to one of our favorite places, Otter Creek Reservoir located in Antimony, Utah. The fishing is usually good and we bring home our catch limit of trout to smoke and enjoy for several meals.
The fish in the picture is a perfect example of..."The one that got away!" It just continued to grow...and became larger than life!

It's that time of year that my husband loves...FISHING SEASON in southern Utah! We always make a list of things we'll need for a fishing excursion. Such as:
Fishing licenses Gas in the boat Emergency battery back-up Oars - in case of power failure Life vests for all onboard Blankets and towels First-aid kit Sunscreen Fishing hat Fishing poles Tackle box Food & Snacks Paper towels & Wet wipes Fresh water to drink Bait - including WORMS! One of our favorite family places to go fishing & camping is Otter Creek Reservoir in Antimony, Utah. When we finish for the the day, the boys LOVE jumping off the boat and taking a swim, always racing each other back! The temperature of the water is usually around 60 degrees and they just relish it with shrieks of laughter and splashing each other!
It's great fun...even if you are just watching!

What am I thankful for? I'M THANKFUL FOR...
Time well spent with my family away from phones, the internet and deadlines.The freedom to go fishing, boating, camping or to do all three at the same time!Horseshoes, yes, horseshoes.
