Wordless Wednesday: Touch-me-not!

Look but don't dare touch this plant unless you wish to be speared by its spiky points that are hidden among fern-like leaves. Birds flitter with ease over, around under and through the foliage, easily escaping its needle-like tips.
This Honeybean Mesquite tree has a built-in defense system that sprouts 3 inch spikes that have been known to puncture tennis shoes and tires. The wood from the tree is used to create a smoky flavor to meats when barbecuing.
Now, do you see why this is a touch-me-not type of plant?
I'll gladly comply.

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): I'm a Top Producer in my area!
Anyone who knows me realizes that I do not like to brag but will...JUST-THIS-ONE-TIME! Yes, I am a Top Producer and can say that with conviction and back it up with viable proof! Just ask the hundreds of people that were the recipients throughout the growing season.
Do I have an Excel sheet, testimonials or stats that further prove that I am the Top Producer in my area?

No.
Just the smiles on the faces of the people who I have had the pleasure of serving!

southern utah: Wordless Wednesday: Wispering. - 08/24/11 02:12 AM
Wordless Wednesday: Wispering.

Minty tendrils feathering out. Wispering. Vividly painting the desertscape. Wispering. Inquisitively seeking open space. Wispering. Tickley, twisty and twining strands. Wispering.
On an outing at Coral Canyon Golf Course, I hit the ball into the rough. I never did find it but instead came across this beautiful Desert Sage and it was wispering to me. It was, as you can see!
Happy Wednesday!

Back to School ~ Washington County School District ~ Southern Utah ~ Bus Schedules
Last year I wrote a blog on traffic conditions once school started:  Defensive Back-to-School Driving: You will be T-E-S-T-E-D! It is always a good reminder to SLOW DOWN and be extra cautious while driving in close proximity of schools. Watch for flashing lights, heed crossing guard instructions, bicyclists and young ones darting out in between cars.

Bus Schedules: The Washington County School District has developed a web site to allow parents to educate themselves of the responsibilities of their student(s) while riding the bus to and from … (8 comments)

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Au pair.

It is said couples should compliment each other, pay tribute to each other's strengths. This twosome accomplishes that objective, colors vibrant, yet soothing with just a touch of ooh and ahh about their fringe.
I wouldn't dream of choosing a favorite, for both offer a beauty equal to and of their own. They are quite a pair!
Happy Wednesday!

Thankful Thursdays: For Skype's sake!

The last two weeks flew quickly by as family members came to southern Utah for our son's graduation. The togetherness and warmth were unmatched by any event for quite some time. Just as quickly as they arrived, they left, our oldest off to Pittsburgh.
I admit to feeling down and lacked the usual get-up-and-go that always came naturally, working from home the last few days without much motivation...
And then my husband came home with a web-cam, set up Skype and like magic, we can now see Sebastian while talking to him and my brother all … (25 comments)

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Ignite the Passion!

What an amazing turnout in southern Utah for American Cancer Society Relay for Life! As I walked aound the track, I began to take pictures of the Survivor Displays and ask questions. I was very humbled by the many stories told of loved ones who are survivors and touched by the families of people who had passed. Wow! This is one amazing experience that grabs the heart!

southern utah: See Anasazi Petroglyphs in southern Utah - 03/01/11 01:11 AM
See Anasazi Petroglyphs in southern Utah

My husband discovered these petroglyphs on top of some huge sandstone boulders located in the Stone Cliff community in St. George, Utah.
Some of the images have faded away but these do remain. They are becoming worn away by the weather, due to intense sun, wind or pounding rains.
According to several sources, the Anasazi people existed in southern Utah, building small structures, farming the land and living in peace among themselves.
Bisected circles, spirals, animals and humans were among the many designs of their handiwork. Unfortunately these drawings will eventually disappear but at least I … (16 comments)

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Rose colored glasses not necessary!

After a day of work, I was in 'go home' mode and as I crested the hill, the entire countryside before me was immersed in a pink glow. The snow on the hills and volcanoes took on the same bright hue, this was definitely the 'highlight' of the day!
Veyo is known for its numerous cinder cones and lava flows that litter the landscape. Also home to the world famous Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon, Rock Climbing Park.

southern utah: Local Radio Advertising Dead? Think again! - 03/27/10 05:34 AM
Local radio advertising really works!
Just ask me.
Our brokerage advertises regularly on the local radio stations and now we have proven results of that marketing effort.
Two buyers walked through the door yesterday looking to purchase a property. They heard of Prado Real Estate in St. George, Utah on-the-radio. My broker asked if "I was able to help them?"
"Why, of course! I am!"
After discussing their wants and needs, we chose a few properties that fit the criteria and off we went!
And yes, they signed an Exclusive Buyer Agreement...what a great way to end the week!
