speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Flowers for you on Mother's Day! - 05/08/11 04:42 AM

When I think of Mother's Day, many words come to mind; nurturing. loving, caring, it's those exact actions that mean the most. A person who is nurtured, loved, cared for tend to show others the same. Moms come in all sizes, shapes and personalities but one thing is sure, without them we wouldn't be who we are today.
So Thank You mom for being you and loving me, for ME!
p.s. I picked you some of your favorite flowers, enjoy them!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Blooming its Buds Off!

White on Easter signifies purity and grace. Pastels remain typical colors worn in honor of Easter and the color of white has always represented a clean, bright shade that is easy on the eyes. As we gather with family and friends on Easter Sunday to celebrate the many reasons to be thankful, we should give thanks to Mother Nature as well for providing her timeless beauty season after season.
This southern Utah cactus is Blooming its Buds Off for all to see! Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): True Blue! - 04/17/11 03:41 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): True Blue!
Baby blue eyes is a spring-blooming flower, also known as an herb that gets its name from the bright blue flowers that flourish in the wild. This kitten's vibrant eyes evoke a transparent clearness similar to the Baby blue eyes flowers. Her True blue eyes were so unusual and unexpected, I was mesmerized by her gaze and then my son informed me it was time to go. What? I was so enjoying the view! Happy Sunday to you all!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Storm's a brewin'!

I took comfort in Mary Yonker's post, Let's Meet for Cup of Tea & Discuss the Budget. Without anger, malice, resentment or animosity, let's just chat over a cup of tea regarding solutions to the mess the government has created, I appreciate that Mary. Thank you.

The government apparently has lost track of what is truly important. So as they point fingers, yell and place blame, one thing is certain...they have forgotten the "We The People" part.

And a storm's a brewin'...!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Bloomie away!

The many vibrant colors of Spring demand attention and are such a delight that I get quite excited to see the endless variety that nature offers up each year. From the first hints of daffodils to the spirited tulips that dot flower gardens in the downtown St. George, Utah area to the fruitless cherry trees that show off their white, pink and magenta blooms to all passerby.

They all bloomie away!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Preferred weekend destination!

Along with warmer Spring temperatures, my thoughts turn to a favorite pastime of camping and fishing with family and friends. I see a trip to Panguitch Lake or Otter Creek Reservoir in the near future, on the water, anchoring down, casting our lines and enjoying what the day brings.
This is what time well spent is all about!
Ahhhhhh!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Wall flower - 03/05/11 10:31 PM

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Wall flower
Unlike the typical wall flower that is too shy to show itself, this whimsical wall flower appeared one morning in the back alleyway between offices near our downtown St. George location. It added a vibrant focal point to the otherwise dingy, drabby block walls.
An artist decided to share their expressive nature by gluing fresh blooms and leaves to the exterior alley way walls, creating this eclectic wall flower. I wonder if real wallflowers were used to create this? Hmmm...
There is beauty around every corner just waiting to be discovered!
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Oops! She did it again! - 02/27/11 02:45 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Oops! She did it again!

While it was raining in St. George Utah, it began to snow just 20 minutes away at our house! We knew to expect a cold front from the north but never thought we'd see silver dollar size snowflakes quietly floating to the ground, claiming every outdoor surface!
Spring is near, I can feel it and understand that Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she ordered this change of weather. Oops, she did it again, hopefully for the last time this year!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Powdered Sugar Dusting!

And look what we woke up to this morning! Almost as if someone had taken a huge powdered sugar shaker and transformed the entire countryside into a winter wonderland in a matter of hours. Thankful for the snow, yes, but hoping it is our last winter storm as we get closer to welcoming in the Spring season!
C'mon Spring! I'm rooting for you!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Sleeping giant...shhhh no wakey!

A creature this size deserves the utmost respect when in its presence, so tip toe quietly around him as you admire his dramatic features and timeless beauty. If you startle him into conciousness, there are no guarantees for your safety as he is one powerful beast!
He could suddenly grasp you in his trunk or stomp the ground causing multiple tremors, suddenly throwing you off-balance, causing you to meet the ground in a horizontal posture...so shhhh no wakey!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Pony up!

'Pony up' is an expression that means 'to pay'. I'm sure most people would pay a healthy premium to have access to such remarkable views way up high.  This little pony takes full advantage of the views by positioning himself at the uppermost point overlooking the city below and far beyond.
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Here we GO PITTSBURGH! Here we GO! - 02/06/11 06:33 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Here we GO PITTSBURGH! Here we GO!
The towels arrived on Friday, from my brother in Pittsburgh and along with them, the history of the Terrible Towel. Myron Cope, a longtime Pittsburgh broadcaster, created the towels in 1975, some of the proceeds going to his son's school. Danny Cope now 41, was born without a voice, being developmentally challenged and his former school still benefits from the proceeds of the towels.

More than a 100,000 towels are sold every year for about $7 each and more than 450,000 were produced after the Steelers won the A.F.C. Championship. What a legacy … (22 comments)

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Full Moon Rising

Nearing the Diamond Valley area on the way home from a busy day, I rounded the curve on a final stretch that would take me there, until this beautiful sight came into view. Pulling over, reaching for my camera, I got out of the car in order to capture the full moon rising in the distance.

The snow covered mountain range contrasts heavily with the red colors of the inactive volcanoes in the forefront, creating a wondrous scene. Happy Sunday to you all!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Rose colored glasses not necessary!

After a day of work, I was in 'go home' mode and as I crested the hill, the entire countryside before me was immersed in a pink glow. The snow on the hills and volcanoes took on the same bright hue, this was definitely the 'highlight' of the day!
Veyo is known for its numerous cinder cones and lava flows that litter the landscape. Also home to the world famous Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon, Rock Climbing Park.

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Move on...

Hiway steathily stalks the birds from a distance, 'eyeing' each one of them as they flitter here and there through the trees to the ground and then back through the trees again! I obviously interrupted her adventure as she quickly turned toward the back yard, intent on her work, therefore ignoring me.
Okay, I got the message...I'm moving on!

Speechless Sunday (almost!): And spin & glide!

If there ever was a tree display that captured the true essence of skating on a frozen pond, this would be the one to bring back those delightful memories! A fashionable family of four takes advantage of the low, seasonal temperatures to spin and glide across its smooth surface, what a veritable winter delight!

St. George, Utah has an ice skating rink, (yes, it's true!) located at the Dixie Sunbowl, 150 S. 400 East, St. George. Cost is $10 for a 2-hour session and is open Monday through Saturday offering several sessions per day. For more information, go to: The website is … (12 comments)

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Chess anyone?

A chess lover's Christmas tree decorated in all its finest trimmings! Black and white with a hint of red for the season, whimsical enough for all passersby but serious enough for game players. I'm sure this tree found a home with someone who could appreciate the "Let's play chess" theme. The Jubilee of Trees undoubtedly has something for everyone!
