staying the course: Pepe the Pied Pepper - 09/05/23 03:53 PM
Pepe the Pied Pepper Once upon a growing season, in a dirt plot far removed from any bustling city, there came to be a tiny, red pepper named Pepe. Unlike other mild, sweet mannered natives, his constant, upbeat dillivery far exceeded any spicy, confines. 🎶 From an early age, he found himself drawn to harmonious, singsong melodies emanating from the abundant flowers, tweeting birds and buzzing insects. He intended to bring the heat of the symphony to an all-natural realization. 🎵 Through the power of music, Pepe envisioned himself as an esteemed leader. Soon, word of Pepe’s well-rounded group became well-known to the ears of music lovers far … (14 comments)

staying the course: just a smidgen... - 06/14/22 06:26 AM
just a smidgen...

Again, media opinionists are pushing their narrative, creating a lot of industry chatter about cyclical patterns and impending disaster. Most days I ignore the constant static and go about my business.

Besides, who knows what will happen in the next shift?

Those of us that have experienced a market downturn understand the need to pay attention to trends and subtle nuances in the real estate market, even if it moves just a titch. It helps to decide a clearer direction.

Agents in the last economic downturn learned new business practices and standards, tenacity and patience were required. They had a huge advantage … (28 comments)

MARCHing With a Spring in Our Step!

When in boot camp, all squads diligently practiced marching in unified cadence, it became a favorite part of my day. There were several recruits that had 2 left feet and would ultimately miss a beat or turn the wrong way, setting themselves into a chaotic fit until order could be established once again!

Rehearsing up until graduation, marching instilled discipline, unity, and teamwork among us all. Many fell out of basic training, becoming casualties, unable to handle the mental or physical aspects of miltary requirements.

In real estate, mistakes will be made, it's human nature and a … (18 comments)

Losing sight when the money isn't quick.

Cyclical patterns became part of the chatter by industry professionals when visiting the open house event during the St. George Area Parade of Homes. Some predicted a market downturn but I lack a mystical, crystal ball.

I do, however, give the latest statistics in the Washington County, Utah area so that potential buyers and sellers are able to make an informed decision. The number of resales and available build lots, days on market, prices, etc.

My selling area is over-saturated with real estate agents at approximately 2,000 with an inventory of only 296 listings. That means writing … (12 comments)

staying the course: The Fox and the Grapes & Real Estate - 01/26/18 10:29 AM
The Fox and the Grapes & Real Estate
On a hot summer's day, a Fox was strolling through an orchard, he suddenly came upon several juicy bunches of grapes, suspended high above his reach. Hungry and drooling, he thought, "Just the thing to quench me."

Taking a running start, he leaped, just missing the tasty bunch. Turning around again and once, twice, three times, he jumped, with no success. Trying again, again and again, he failed to be rewarded for all the effort.

He finally gave up, walking away with his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure they are sour anyway." It is easy to despise what is not easily attainable. The Fox's appetite … (28 comments)

Unfollow…social media fail!

Crossing the professional line too quickly can be a disadvantage, especially when 'friending' people on social media sites. After selling a home in southern Utah to a buyer couple, we transitioned from the client-agent relationship to a more familiar status.

A while later, they decided to move and wanted me to list their home for sale. Happily, we worked out the terms and conditions. After signing the legal documents, I hired a professional photographer to take photos, uploaded the information to the Multiple Listing Service.

A few weeks into the process, she became very dissatisfied, turning to Facebook, complaining to the world that her home had not sold yet. Then, for … (18 comments)
