Thank a Veteran today, they'll appreciate the gesture!

Veterans are true heroes to be honored every day for selflessly stepping up to serve and sacrifice for the U.S.A. Those who came before us gave plenty, some gave their all to ensure our rights, privileges and freedoms!

My father John served in the Army, fought in Vietnam. Thank you Dad! My husband is Navy retired and gave 20+ years of his life to the military and was in Desert Storm, he is to be honored today as well! Thank you My Honey!

Did you know? U.S. Flag Protocol During National Mourning

May is Military Appreciation Month. Won't you take a moment to thank a veteran or service member in your life? As often as possible, I do, especially family members and friends who have proudly served.

Did you know that when the nation is in a period of mourning, the American flag is lowered on its pole as a sign of respect referred to as “half-staff?” National periods of mourning are designated by a presidential proclamation and suggest the flag remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset of that day unless otherwise noted.

We are so very proud of these two U. S. Navy Veterans. Sebastian was awarded the Navy’s Blue Jacket of The Year during his time in service. Devyn was also awarded Junior Blue Jacket of the Year during hers. Thank you both for stepping up and making a positive difference, it is much appreciated!

thank a veteran: THANK YOU ALL! - 11/11/15 12:06 AM
THANK YOU ALL!

To the men and women who sacrificed their all in the name of their country when others dared not, THANK YOU ALL!  You are true heroes who deserve far more recognition than you have received! You will always be remembered in the hearts of the people who knew and still love you! Rest in Peace.

If given the opportunity, shake the hand of a military person and say THANKS any day of the year! It feels good, just try it and you'll see!

The Forgotten War 1950 - 1953
My blog post today is dedicated to my father-in-law Ken Nerdin and all Veterans who have stepped up in the name of the United States of America. Ken just turned 80 a few weeks ago and was excited to show off a t-shirt he recently received as a gift.

Though it is much more than just a white tee with letters on it, he was there in the thick of gunfire where, in the three-year fight against the North Koreans and Chinese, and some 37,000 American soldiers died.

It has been referred to as "The Forgotten War" because it fell … (6 comments)

thank a veteran: Honoring Our Military on Memorial Day - 05/28/10 03:41 AM
Memorial Day happens once a year and honors this country's military men and women who have put their lives on the line or sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. I come from a strong military background of people who have served the United States of America selflessly and proudly.
Every year as this day comes around, I think of my Uncle Robert Graves who was a POW and died in the Korean War, who didn't have the joy of seeing his son grow up to be the fine person that he became. And I also think of his son, Randy Graves, a helicopter gunner who … (18 comments)
