trust but verify: Be Reliable. Not Pliable. - 07/08/20 02:08 PM
Be Reliable. Not Pliable.

Seasoned Realtors understand the importance of consistently relaying pertinent information backed by solid, statistical facts in a drama-free work zone. Anything less is an injustice to consumers that trust professionals.

The main stream media continuously transmit erroneous newscasts with zero accountability. Their goals are simply higher ratings by pushing traffic to outlets without accuracy or proof, no matter who they hurt.

My advice: Trust but verify to avoid becoming pliable due to the trap of salacious, fantastical spin. Better yet, turn it off, walk away and remember to drink from the lake of wisdom rather than an unreliable waterhole.

Avoid Cranial-Rectal Inversion (CRI).

Seek the truth above all. Intentionally refrain from mindless gullibility or you could possibly become a victim of CRI. Social media, television and the MSM is full of messages intended to incite by stupidity.

Trust but verify has never been so important in today's world, knowing that everything in real estate is written, that hearsay has no legal bearing. Show me solid proof of so-said claims and then discuss the information.

During due diligence, I love to research a property to the fullest, relying on fact-based documentation to educate and inform. Hearsay is similar to the rumor mill, in the respect that some things may be … (0 comments)

Don't trust EVERYTHING you see...

I have the greatest clients! We met in the office before viewing homes and when he turned around and bent over, I had to do another glance. Then had an out-loud, blow milk out the nose, deep in-the-belly laugh!

Of course, once down to a few giggles, I had to take advantage of the situation for future blog use and asked that he pose while taking a photo. He gladly obliged which caused a few other people to look and smile!

On a more serious note: The real estate industry hinges on up-to-the-minute information backed by facts. Buyers and sellers depend on being informed when making one of … (12 comments)

The Loch Ness Monster's elusiveness fully explained...

For centuries, Scottish lore of the aquatic being known as the Loch Ness Monster has brought world-wide attention with outlandish, mystic tales that are at best, fantastically unbelievable.

A mysterious, eel-like creature with a long neck and humps protruding from the water is reputed to glide at hyper speeds, effortlessly cutting through water. No actual photos are published, until now, that is.

It has also been described as:
a monster fish sea serpent or dragon
While it has been known only to reside in water, it is amphibious, as you see here. So, when everyone's rapt attention was always focused on the water, the … (16 comments)

trust but verify: Reliable or pliable? - 08/04/16 10:24 AM
Reliable or pliable?

As real estate agents, we are expected to relay timely information that is backed up by solid facts. Anything less is an injustice to our clients and consumers who are seeking the truth.

It seriously irks me that the media continues to expel erroneous, felonious and liable newscasts, pod-casts and broadcasts for the sake of ratings and pushing traffic to their online outlets.

The world's answer to many unknown questions seem to lie with Google, Yahoo or Bing and just a few clicks of the mouse and wallah! instant access. Does that mean it is true and correct?

All I'm saying is...Trust but verify to avoid the slacious media … (2 comments)

Stay Calm and Avoid Fake News Reports.

The advent of social media sites encourages a global reach by bringing family and friends together. It has become a successful, international advertising and marketing platform for business related ads and articles as well.

With that said, it has also created an atmosphere of hate mongering, intolerance, raunchiness and arm chair experts. Three types of people participate in the negative side of online media:

The Purger: It's business as usual to spew vitriol on information they disagree upon. Anyone and anything is fair game to the helter-skelter stream of insults unleashed on a regular basis.

The Absorber: Obsessed and takes everything personal but uses a passive-aggressive stance. Will remain mute rather than taking a chance … (10 comments)

Casting negative light on the industry.

Several days ago, someone posted a scathing article on Facebook from a make believe news source depicting a house on fire that was started by a disgruntled real estate agent because the owners would not sell.

It cast our industry in a most negative light. There is already enough of that nonsense! So, please before posting something like that, verify the origination, the author and the news source.

Some people cannot diffentiate the truth from fiction and some prefer to believe in the worst of behaviors. Human nature I suppose! Thanks to the Lighter Side of Real Estate for setting the record … (29 comments)

Listing agents, be aware when uploading to Zillow!

Recently, I listed an exceptional home to market, advertise and sell. I hired a professional photographer to come in and take pictures and also to use the latest 3-D technology to show off the doll house effect.

The owner wanted it advertised on all the major real estate driven sites...Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, etc. I complied to the client's request.

Little did I know that when I started manually inputting all the information to Zillow, the agent's name and brokerage that listed the home prior to me appeared in the home description remarks section.

The homeowner called, telling me that the … (11 comments)

Getting schooled!

Salacious headlines fraught with juicy, sensationalistic rhetoric grabs the reader's attention every time. Before proceeding forward with such news to colleagues, family and friends, please verify.

It is ultra-imperative in our industry to relay solid information based on facts to help clients make informed decisions. Avoid repeating hearsay, gossip or rumors because it may be you that gets schooled!

Tiny fairy skull found in home garden. Proof they exist!

Little did Miss Betsy realize that her amazing discovery would set off a wildfire media blitz of epic proportions.

Her back yard was trampled over by zealous onlookers, the garden left in complete ruins. News vans and reporters lined the narrow dirt lane leading to her country home. Microphones were a buzzing. Helicopters hovered. Camera's rolling. Unable to leave the premises for days, the phone was finally taken off the hook to allow her family some semblance of peace.

After many weeks of speculation, fairy-tale expert Ms. Tatar was called in. This is where trust but verify came into play. … (10 comments)

Thanks, I will get back to you soon...

Professionals use auto respond messages to give the apppearance of immediate attention when emails and instant messages are delivered. It works when monitored. If ignored, it can negatively impact business.

Check systems regularly to avoid missed opportunities. Tools are convenient when used accordingly, especially when someone is requesting information on a listed property or when receiving an offer or an addendum to a REPC in progress.

If you have an auto respond message attached to an email, message service or smart phone, understand how it works and check it regularly to verify functionality. Otherwise, current and future business may be at risk.

Happy sales all!

Fraud Alert! Scam from China still in progress.

This scam started in 2013 and the criminals, once again, have reared their ugly intentions. Agents, when it sounds too good to be true, it is. Scenario: Chinese home buyer sends credentials and an Earnest Money check to be deposited. Once that is done, he then cancels the transaction before funds have recorded, requesting his money back immediately.

The checks sent are counterfeit! They can be in the amount of 15K and more. The checks and identification look legitimate but are not. When in doubt, check it out thoroughly. Contact the bank to verify whether the funds are authentic and the potential … (21 comments)
