Thanks to President Harry S. Truman for establishing a holiday in order for citizens to unite and to honor our military heroes for their patriotic service in support of the United States of America.

A military career is not a 9 to 5 job. Personnel often work 12 to 16 hour days to accomplish their tasks in grueling weather or adverse conditions.They are taken away from their families to all areas of the world to teach, ensure peace or to act quickly to quash any threats to our country. Freedom isn’t free. The sacrifices our military men and women endure are evident. Some may perish in the name of freedom, while others are separated from family and friends for lengthy periods of time, distanced from everything they know.

Exceptional leaders deserve to be recognized. Happy Birthday Martin Luther King Jr.! We have been blessed as a nation to have great leadership and vision; to make decisions based on free thinking. It's official! Our son graduated today from NAVY basic training and will head to Pensacola, Florida tomorrow morning to Avionics A-school. We will be able to visit with him for 3 hours today once he fulfills his duties. We couldn't be prouder of this young man as he embarks on a military career in the Navy. He earned a sharpshooter medal and was section leader during his 7 weeks of training. Happy 4th of July! Let's honor this great country of ours. I posted this blog last year and I think it is appropriate to do so again.
