A military career is not a 9 to 5 job. Personnel often work 12 to 16 hour days to accomplish their tasks in grueling weather or adverse conditions. They are taken away from their families to all areas of the world to teach, ensure peace or to act quickly to quash any threats to our country. The are unable to put in a 2 week notice and move on to another job. Their commitments are 3 to 5 years (10 comments)

Freedom isn’t free. The sacrifices our military men and women endure are evident. Some may perish in the name of freedom, while others are separated from family and friends for lengthy periods of time, distanced from everything they know.

Exceptional leaders deserve to be recognized. Happy Birthday Martin Luther King Jr.! We have been blessed as a nation to have great leadership and vision; to make decisions based on free thinking. Of course, it has come at a great price and sacrifice for some. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that all people are created equal and that cost him his life. Today, we honor Mr. King by celebrating his birthday. I am thankful for his vision and determination to make positive change for our great nation. Happy Birthday! ......................................................................................... I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too (8 comments)
It's official! Our son graduated today from NAVY basic training and will head to Pensacola, Florida tomorrow morning to Avionics A-school. We will be able to visit with him for 3 hours today once he fulfills his duties. We couldn't be prouder of this young man as he embarks on a military career in the Navy. He earned a sharpshooter medal and was section leader during his 7 weeks of training. As my eyes scanned the crowd of new Sailors, I was eager to find him to see him for the first time during (17 comments)

Happy 4th of July! Let's honor this great country of ours. I posted this blog last year and I think it is appropriate to do so again. Enjoy the day and always remember the fight in the people then and the spirit in our people now are what make this country great! God Bless the U.S.A.! Mr. Skelton was an amazing comedian in his own right but there were times when he would become solemn, especially when he wanted to express something of great importance. This is one of those times and wanted to share this with all of you for (13 comments)
